The coat (minus the cap) esp the colour remind me of the McQueen coat from the new Zealand tour - it would have been nice to simply see it as a repeat today

I liked the dress but once again she has ignored the old adage of not hiding your light under a bushel!

Once again she presents us with an item of clothing where all the action is beneath her hair! What may very well have been original, elegant, whimsical or just plain fun is obscure by a curtain of hair.

Why bother? What a waste.

A number of off-topic posts and comments have been removed. This thread has nothing to do with the Duchess of Sussex! Thank you for your understanding!

The duchess looked lovely in her new blue coat today in Northern Ireland ,I didn't mind the cape part.

The NZ coat was more of a coatdress I think--this one is a real coat. I like today's coat better except for the cape and collar/lapels. The buttons are nice and the pockets are much better than the McQueen

:previous:Catherine’s coat kind of reminds me of the coats worn by the girls from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”?

Yes!
The DM has an article comparing them; the similarity is amazing.

I love the colour of the coat, I really don't like the half cape/half coat look it does nothing. The Jenny Dress underneath is nothing special.

Always wishing she'd do more with her everyday hairstyle.

I thought of the same. The marching images from the film came to mind.
The Duchess of Cambridge looked purposeful; it's a travelling coat and I love the colour.

The picture of her earlier, with the Chief of Police, looks like she is discussing door locks or similar..
Her dress is gorgeous; perfect for a quirky discussion.

I loved the blue caped coat worn by the Duchess of Cambridge today. I have a weakness for capes.

I love this coat. It's different than her standard and it works very well, imo.

LOOOOOVE the cobalt color of the dress!!!!

LOVE this 'blue coat...I would get one if I could afford it! Gorgeous styling.

Love the royal blue dress, the coat seems silly to me. I would like to only see coat repeats, she has so many

First outfit of today, meeting Chief of NI Police at Hillsborough:

The Duchess of Cambridge @ engagements in Ballymena today.

Looks to be a brand new coat, Catherine is wearing the blue dress pictured earlier underneath.

Catherine is wearing a navy Jenny Packham Dress and Mulberry Coat (£1795).

I love the first dress, very beautiful. The second outfit is divine and elegant. Very beautiful.

Catherine's dress in Hillsborough is gorgeous - loving that colour on her!

Very similar to a dress she wore on their jubilee south east Asia tour - to a temple the day the topless pictures came out.

Love the colour, don't mind the dress but it's nothing special. Hair an issue again, just do something with it!

Mmmm she looks like the headmistress of the Sloane Ranger appreciation society with this dress.
Just meh ...

Nice dress, but nothing special. There's no danger of overshadowing the PoW in this one! Appropriate but unexciting.

Catherine would look good in anything but the dress is too conservative for her age IMO.
She looks really old fashioned with the voluminous hair & c.1980 dress.

Old fashioned. School marm is right. Even for her this is matronly

Even the color is blah. A better color would at least help it out.

She either needs to start styling her hair or chop it off like Letizia bob length. Again it just isn't doing anything for her. It looks like she is holding to youth which is a funny contrast to her matronly dress.

Catherine's dress today is pretty underwhelming. It would be fine for meetings or a lunch, but for a celebratory event it lacks something. I agree with the idea that a different color might have elevated the dress.

I liked the dress way better on her Asia tour, maybe it was because it matched the scarf she covered her head with because of the temple visit. However, I am disliking the dress today. Old-fashioned and matronly. It does nothing for her. Miss.

So is this the same dress from Malaysia or a new one that looks exactly like the Malaysian one?

I'm with you guys that this is nothing special. It suffices, but it ages her. Maybe if the color was in a jewel tone, I'd like it better.

This dress ages her so terribly. Too much of a high collar, too much sleeve, too much length, too much of everything. The color is lovely, but the dress in too matronly for her.

Not a very flattering look. It just seems the whole outfit is stuck in the past. I also prefer her hair shorter it kind of drags her down.

I don't like this dress at all.
