I am really enjoying this outing look. I am a sucker for a swirly plaid skirt at the holidays and I find the weight/drape of this to be perfect. And while I don't wear button front sweaters, I like them on other people. And Catherine looks peachy in this one. Black was the perfect choice - given the vivid red of the skirt.

Classic and ladylike. Me like.

I agree. I love this look on her!

I really want to love her look in Cyprus ...but something is off somewhere for me. Love the green blazer...black pants are fine although not crazy about the wide leg on her. Maybe it's the shirt...maybe it's too simple or the material is wrong.

I like the effort...just not loving the overall look.

I’m not sure about such a wide leg on her, but overall I think it’s a fairly good look that almost hits the mark. It just needs a little...something. A long necklace, perhaps?

Yes maybe it needs a necklace...the belt is kinda blah too..maybe it's too wide or something. I think it needs something to dress it up a little.

I'm not a huge fan of that shade of green paired with the black trousers, but overall I like this look very much. The trousers are wide legged, but they don't drag on the ground and they don't overwhelm her frame, which is a nice change from some we've seen. The shape of the jacket is lovely, even if the color is not her best. The white top is fine, simple but nothing to jump up and down about. A very good look for the engagement.

Not necessarily even a long necklace-her Asprey charm necklace would have looked nice.

I generally feel like her daytime looks need a slightly more aggressive touch in the accessories department. I think she needs to figure out something that will do for her what a well-chosen brooch does for the Queen, if that makes any sense.

I don’t usually feel like she’s missing that final touch in her eveneningvwear, though. Maybe it’s that she does wear more jewelry at those times, but I think it’s also that her gowns tend to have much more detail to the design. Her daytime looks are so streamlined—and I like that! But they often lack that one detail that kind of helps to sort of settle focus and balance, if that makes any sense... but that just leaves room for accessories to do the job.

Perfect example of why I prefer her casual looks. More young while appropriate.

Love the green blazer and the matching accessories :flowers:

I am not a huge fan of wide leg trousers but these aren't too wide. Nice change. Usually only get her in pants at real casual events like sports, and jeans. Nice dress pants. Nice difference to her usual cost dress style.

I agree the top seems a bit too casual or plain. She either needed a different top or a necklace to finish the look.

Over all two great day looks in a row. :flowers:

A beautiful scarf would have made the look very nice. And the pants in navy blue.

I have to agree with you, it is a good look, and certainly, a look that has evolved from previous smart casual / semi-formal events.

You are being very diplomatic!? Any particular comparisons in mind? :flowers:

Are you saying the pants are navy or that you think they should be navy (rather than black)?

Because the Kate fashion blogs are saying they are navy--that Kate is in navy and khaki to co-ordinate with the military people's uniforms.

Either a scarf or a necklace with the simple top would have looked nice.

At first I saw them on my monitor as navy and liked the combination very much. Then read the pants were black. Still like it but prefer them to be navy :)

Perfect choice for this event!!

Very smart & suits the event - even better with a scarf or necklace as others have said.

I have long held a wish for Kate to embrace wearing trousers other than tight jeans for engagements and now I have my wish. I do think wide legged suits her but agree an interesting belt or top would have made this look ‘sing’.

Like this look very much. And for someone who has sat on a plane for nearly 5 hours, she looks amazing!

A nice look, but needs a necklace. The charm necklace would be perfect.

The outfit was smart casual for the event but I thought the duchess puled it off well.

Loving both of her outfits over the last couple of days! They both looked wonderfully appropriate, fit beautifully, and were really well done. I do agree that she could have used a long necklace with today's outfit...perhaps the one with the rings that we saw with the blue dress around the time of the Olympics? Overall, though, beautifully done both days.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the red tartan outfit, earrings and all. 10/10. And I rarely say that with Catherine's clothes.

Liked the green jacket, and the trousers.

Catherine in red tartan looked perfect for the event.
However, I felt the cardigan was a smidge too short - in the body and the sleeve.
(Unless the dress code was Kitsch Christmas.)
I was nervous, expecting to see her belly button when she stretched!! hahahe

Loved the snow. It looked fun for the kids.

I adore this pants look with olive blazer and white tee for a day with active duty troops and families. Spot on for tone and fitting in. Sometimes you want to be part of the gang - and I think this was what she/they were going for. Brava!

I also think the hair was an excellent choice as there was no touching/fussing as the day wore on.

I like how this couple are doing their job.

Lovely to see the Smythe Duchess Blazer again. Yes, this outfit isn't one we've come to expect from Kate, but that's why I love it. It's good to experiment from time to time and I think she hit it out of the park with this one.

I'm not an accessories person either, so I don't mind the lack thereof.
