I think a pretty frivolous hat with a floral decoration would have kicked that look up a couple of notches.

I think the whole look worked - she can do blue/black really well. Although its spring, its chilly right now so weather (and cold church) appropriate. She didnt upstage anyone.

And I think she has a lot going on right now. So great look; easily put together - good choice

It was rather a somber look for a wedding, though.
She has much nicer coats.

I'm not saying it wasn't appropriate, but it's not a coat I'm fond of, it just seems dull somehow.

But I do like the hat!

Obviously someone else also think that this coat is suitable for wedding. Another lady wore the same coat to the same wedding!!

Errm . . . did I read that right? Did the Duchess really purchase the coat from a second hand shop?

You did indeed read that right, if the DailyMail is to be believed;

Quote:
The cost-conscious Duchess sourced the blue coat from her favourite second-hand store Bicester Village.
The shop describes itself as 'the premiere venue for the fashion conscious bargain hunter' and stocks 'nearly new' designer clothes by Miu Miu, Issa and Gucci.
Do the DailyMail know who they're talking about?

When picking what to wear to a wedding, it is always worth checking with other guests ahead of time to make sure you don't end up wearing the same outfit.
Laughable!

I don't think a light blue coat is somber at all. Of course, she wouldn't keep her coat on throughout the festivities. I haven't seen any photos of the dress. It looks like she was wearing a floral print, which is perfectly appropriate for a wedding.

I think she looks good and if she chose a "quieter" look for the walk to the ceremony, it is probably because she didn't want to call a lot of attention to herself. Good for her.

What Kate Wore is always reliable for details on Kate's look of the day.

Is this the outfit she wore before, maybe when she made a joint appearance with HM and Camilla? It seems familiar.
Yes, it is, and I did read in Kate's style by Carolyn Jones she did purchase the coat from a discount store. Don't like the coat, never have. Love the hat though.

It's a blah look. The coat is nothing special and I liked it much better the other time she wore it. The tweed-floral print combination of the coat and dress doesn't work. I don't dislike the hat at all but it is too big on her.

Well, The Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall made such excellent accessories on that day.

Duchess of Cambridge Kate and unlucky guest wear same coat to wedding | Mail Online
Perfect example of what a good fitting does.

The look is harmless nothing special but then the idea is not to overshadow the bride so IMO she didn't over shadow anyone.

The coat looks way too small and both the dress and coat are too short, IMHO. Also dislike the hat. Nothing elegant about this outfit.

I liked the coat when Kate wore it before, perhaps the other woman thought so too and decided to get the same coat. I doubt she imagined that she would attend the same event in the same coat.
My guess is that if they saw wach other, that they will have laughed and commended each other on their good taste. ;-)

That DM article is ludicrous; How can anyone check on what other guests at a wedding will wear? There might be hundreds of people attending!

Exactly. I don't think it would have been an issue if they had been wearing the same dress, but it is ridiculous to think that women worry if someone else is wearing the same outer coat.
