Love it from head to toe. I can't remember what she wore previously at this event, but I like this better. Very elegant.
And of course can't say that William looks bad either.

Boring and too matchy, matchy. I prefer the coat with it's matching tie belt than with the leather one...

I really like this look. It's slight variations of the same colour, but it works because it's not a bright green. Love that she wore Queen Alexandra's brooch!

Love this outfit. Everything: the coat, the shoes, the hat, the clutch, the shade of green. One of my favourites of her.

Lovely, and elegant, as usual.

I'm not so sure about Catherine's belt, I prefer the model's one. That aside, its a lovely coat and the colour suits her.

Agree about the belt. The outfit is okay and appropriate for St. Patrick's Day alas a bit boring.

Such a pretty coat. The fit and style suit's Kate very much. Not fond of the belt as I find such belts (exotic skin and wide) to be outdated.

Too many greens competing in this outfit, I feel. I think if the coat was in an Irish tweed with the green hat, or the hat in an Irish tweed with the green coat, it would have looked so nice with a better contrast and different from the past two years. The lovely brooch was hidden by all her hair and the shamrocks, so suggesting that she wear it higher up on her collar would be pointless. Perhaps she should have pinned it on her hat.

Kate has essentially worn the same color green for the last three years. In some photos it looks almost like a blue green and in some it looks more like a gray green. Officially, this year it is called pine. From the pictures of the last three years it looks like the weather has either been cloudy or raining. As a result, the natural light makes the color look muddy and dreary. Since this event is only a couple of days from the first day of spring, there are so many other shades of green that would be brighter, prettier and frankly more cheerful. This shade is depressing.
On the other hand, after weather in the 70's last week, it has been cold and raining here for the last 2 days. Maybe I am just channeling my own depressing feelings!

She didnt put the shamrock on her coat - an Officer of the Regiment did, so that is not her fault.
I thought she looked just fine. As everything from the water in Chicago( why for God's sake) to buildings, to Canadian mayors were "green" over the past few days, she joined in the fun. Good for her.

I think she looks fine! The skirt length is great, and the outfit works well. I like green, and it's a St Patrick's Day event and on St Patrick's Day I think it's fine to wear as much green as you like, and combine different shades of green. Johnny Cash sang that there are 40 Shades of Green, and I think Kate has combined at least 3, possibly 4, of them. But it works, IMO anyway. I'm even prepared to forgive the hair. Green has that much of a calming effect on me.

I realize that, but knowing from past occasions that those huge shamrocks are always pinned in that same area it would have been better to have placed the brooch higher up on her collar.

The only green I like in abundance is greenback currency....

What a shame she wasn't able to match the green hat with the green coat or even the shoes! I didn't notice a brooch at all.
The coat was much improved from the one she wore the past two years but the color is very dull.
there was a very nice headshots of her and William, however.

You are right. Too many greens, hat looked odd with hair, and I wished we had a better view of the brooch or shamrock.

No. You are right. It is depressingly drab. In fact that is my main quibble about all of her outfits at this event. Too dreary and when the weather is dreary, well, you get the picture.
