The EFC Princess Margriet Awards 2013
On Tuesday March 19, Princess Margriet, Princess Laurentien and Princess Astrid of Belgium attended the ECF Princess Margriet Awards.
The European Cultural Foundation award was founded in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The opening speech was held by Princess Laurentien in her capacity as President of the ECF, while Princess Margriet awarded the prizes.
The laureates of the 5th edition of the award were Lia and Dan Perjovschi, a visual artist couple from Romania, and Yoel Gamzou, a young Israeli-American conductor and assistant music director at the Staatstheater Kassel in Berlin.
Speaking about the laureates, Princess Laurentien said: “Dan and Lia Perjovschi and Yoel Gamzou guide us, through their art, to new and unexpected juxtapositions of ideas and cultures.”
The ECF Princess Margriet Awards is given every year to European artists, intellectuals and activists. Princess Laurentien is the President of the ECF since 2007, when she succeeded Princess Margriet.
