A crazy print mixture (Valentino) for Queen Máxima on day 2 in Morocco today, March 21.

A dress with that print in teal would have been nice, but I dislike the combination with the lower red part of the dress:

The queen's styling or rather lack of it on this trip is very evident and has been quite poor.
The second outfit from yesterday and this morning should be both incinerated.

Look number two, same hair ;), Etro skirt and blouse:

Not a favourite outfit of mine but made less so by the morning after a wild night out hairstyle.

I have to say that I am as stunned today as I was the first time she inflicted that particular hairstyle on the world at large. Why is it that nobody has told her that her hair looks like she has been pulled through a bush backwards. How many times have we said, "what was she thinking?" as she has continued throughout her marriage with us all waiting with bated breath to see what new horror she would inflict upon her admirers and detractor's. Unfortunately, she rarely fails us.

She seems running out of staff. Couldn't someone of her team carry her coat?
As for the hair it is a permanent situation. For an unknown reason the Queen seems thinking that she does not need any professional help for her day hairdo. She might consider that her hair are satisfactory like this.

She is travelling in her UN role, not in her role as queen. So, I don't mind her carrying her coat when leaving the car. Any staff that might support her on these trips are her UN staff not palace assistants.

Interesting. It might explain also the lack of hairdo. Furthermore she stays à Queen wearing Valentino outfits, which is quite contradictory.

Day 3 has started elegant ? - the colour of suit and blouse are great:

That's more like it and makes up for the last 2 days unprofessional looking & rolled out of bed appearances.

So we go from a bedraggled, just rolled out of bed look to an over-jewelled look, complete with a collet necklace, diamond brooch and some serious diamond earrings for day time meetings all of a sudden!

When we see "Orange Fund" or "the UN" then prepare Queen Máxima for appearing as un-Queenly als possible. But maybe she has a formal event today with some high-and-mighties (the royal family of Morocco?), then even she spices herself somwehat up.

Unlike Queen Beatrix, who saw herself Queen for 24 hours a day, Máxima only sees herself as Queen when she is enforced into that protocol (Official Visit, State Visit, first-stone-laying, opening of buildings, military engagements, festivities with formal dressocode). Outside all these activities it seems she loves to dress alike the next-door-neighbour "Just call me Máxima!".

Even with that you'd expect a nice neat appearance, its really part and parcel of the role whether its official or unofficial duties.

Yep, she met with Princess Lalla.

The styling is waaay off. Who shows up dripping in diamonds. The look is borderline gawdy.

The Queen is traveling with her private secretary and at least one assistant. She could've carried a change of wardrobe.

For Day 3 of the UN trip to Morocco, I don't know what all the diamonds were for, especially the necklace and the earrings.

Queen Máxima attended the opening of the 12th edition of Money Week in Utrecht today, March 27:

A nice blue dress but sadly let down by messy hair, the Dutch Minister Sigrid Kaag has far more professional look than the queen.

It remains beyond belief that she takes a look in the mirror (does she?) and sees: "Yes. I so totally look alike a lady from a royal and prestigious House indeed". I have given up on her.

The attachment and admiration I felt for Queen Beatrix is absent for that lady, I am sorry to admit. So unkempt, so undignified, so unprofessional looking. The ladies in her escorte, or a female Mayor welcoming her, or a female CEO, or a female minister, they often look beter dressed, more polished, more professional than Queen Máxima.

That is true indeed. But I really believe that Maxima actually likes that look of her hair, she might be convinced that it is a unique special style.
I cannot believe that she hasn't access to hairstyling whenever she wants or needs it.

The queen does for all of the grander events and normally looks a million dollars but it seems not for the daytime events and the result is normally a mess.

Modekoninginmaxima, the Dutch language blog about Queen Máxima, has started a poll about the hairdo of the Queen. Does it need to look well taken care of all the time? 2/3rd says yes, 1/3rd says no. Around 2500 people have voted.

The poll happened after a long discussion on the blog between participants about the hairstyle of the Queen. In the comments some members point out that next to the untidy hair the Queen lately often makes a sloppy appearance: wrinkled and ill fitting clothes. And her go-to designer has never understood female shapes and as a result often creates highly unflattering outfits. As HMs main role is to be a very public representative one wonders why HM has more and more difficulties to look appropriate.

A comparison is made to Queen Beatrix. Although not fashionable at all, it was clear that some thought went into the choises and she always looked representative. Máxima's approach to her wardrobe seems to be more amateuristic, a blogger claims.

I don't understand why Maxima accepts having her own image so neglected. A proper hairdo is not question of money (and even if it was ... she is not lacking money. ) One less Natan dress could cover the hairdresser for a year..
She travels for sure with a hairdresser because you can see her in evening receptions perfectly groomed with updos etc etc. Why the same hairdresser who worked on the updo + tiara placing cannot work during the day? A freshly renewed haircut, and a simple straight brushing on well washed hair.. like millions of women around the world.. and all is done.

It is simply beyond understanding and an insult to every Dutchman as they may expect, from one of Europe's most expensive monarchies, a spotless execution of the royal dignity.

Queen Maxima certainly needs a new style team,we can cope with some of her fashion choices but the out of bed hairstyle is a no no for such a high profile queen.

It is just odd that she obviously has some interest in fashion and her appearance but yet ignores her hair. I would getting a restyle, help from someone or wearing it up alot more.

I can't recall. Was it always like this? Or new syndrom?
I did some retrograde sleuthing on various threads to get a clearer picture. I only went back 10 years and Maxima's bad hair days have slowly become more and more frequent. Here is Maxima back on Jan 2014 visiting a children's music project. The commentary then is that she needs a good hairdresser. https://www.newmyroyals.com/2014/01/queen-maxima.html?m=1

Queen Maxima is a favorite royal of mine. She is so talented and can look so good in clothes. I continue to be hopeful she will enlist a fulltime stylist and hairdresser.

Yes I just spotted that comment from 2014.
She needs a good hairdresser.

I really like Queen Maxima but I feel she lets herself down by arriving looking a complete mess when she has ample resources available.
A neat tidy hairstyle makes all the difference.

A neat tidy hairstyle makes all the difference.

And the strange thing is: she has a husband and three grown-up daughters, she has siblings, good friends, confidantes, she has a mother and a mother-in-law, do none of these say to her: "Have some more attention to detail" ???

I forgot which book it was, but it was mentioned in the earliest days of her liaison with the Prince of Orange, Queen Beatrix was over the moon with Máxima but regularly wondered "What is it with her hair?". Apparently the Queen was not a type to enforce someone to adaptation and she gave up her attempts to do someting about the hairstyle.

The strange thing is, she can have an amazing hairstyle: https://c8.alamy.com/comp/FMJ633/qu...ation-at-the-petit-palais-muse-des-FMJ633.jpg

But why she can not continue to have a perfect hairdo every day (Queen Beatrix had no any problem with having a stately hairdo), that is the mystery.

Queen Beatrix was always impeccable with her appearances and still is and interesting to note what Beatrix noted about Maxima hair back then.
I must point out that this is nothing personal against Queen Maxima whom I've always liked but just wish she'd pay more attention to her hairstyle for all public engagements.
