Continuing his recent increase in stately duties, the Duke of Cambridge today welcomed the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, to Buckingham Palace for an audience.

Joining the pair was the Kenyan First Lady, Margaret Wnjiru Gakou.

Later in the day, Prince William hosted an investiture at the Palace where he presented various honours to people from all sectors of Britain. Amongst them was Scottish skier Myrtle Simpson, who was the first woman to ski across Greenland back in the 1960s. She received the Polar Medal. Sir David Adjaye was also Knighted, becoming a Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire, for services to architecture.

Several athletes from the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games were also honoured, including Kadeena Cox, who was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire after becoming the first British Paralympian to win gold medals in different sports in one Games in over thirty years.
