that is a great picture of Ernst, one of the best of him, almost as good as the pictures of him peeing outside the Clinic where Alexandra was born!!

what did he look like when he was younger about 20 to 30 yeras old

Ernst, if you want people to treat you with respect then, behave respectively!

With all due respect, Montecarlo, would you - as a private citizen - like to be in the public eye all the time, whether you want to or not ?????

As I see it here, EA is on his boat, and he is entitled to his privacy. Or would you - if you were in his shoes - hide inside the whole time ?

Everybody deserves privacy. But come on, Ernst is a public figure, he knows his every move is photographed so why behave like that? If you look closely at the photo you'll notice that his stepdaughter, Charlotte, is standing right next to him. That's disgusting! Ernst, you should be ashamed of yourself! If you really need to scratch down there then, do it in the bathroom or in the bedroom but not infront of your family! Goodness, you're so nasty! Caroline, please teach this little boy some manners.

Below is a photo of Ernst urinating on the Turkish Embassy in Berlin, Germany.

In 1974 or 1975, Princess Grace of Monaco introduced her eldest daughter, Caroline, to Prince Ernst of Hannover. After the meeting, Princess Caroline described Prince Ernst as being "boring" and "chubby." In 1981, the 27-year-old Prince married 26-year-old Swiss chocolate-heiress Chantal Hochuli. In October of 1997, Ms. Hochuli filed for divorce after her husband was photographed having an affair with Princess Caroline.

Ernst, I don't pick my nose but even if I did, I wouldn't do it in public! What was Caroline thinking when she married you? You must learn how to behave in public.

This Chantal ... which chocolate empire is it, that she belongs to ? I tried to find out once on Google, but had no luck.

imo, Chantal made a respectable man out of Ernst.

I gather EA had to get an amendment to the 'house rules' so he could marry Chantal.

Reminds me of beautiful teenagers dating slobs. :) Ernst ...keep it up !!!!!! ;)

What is it about girls and "Beauty and the Beast" ??????
I heard girls, like have this fantasy of 'taming the beast' ... maybe this is what it is all about ...

I`vent found informations about "Hochuli chocolate" too, but maybe this is wrong information, and she´s part of the Hochuli-building-firm-family?!
I´m still wondering if EA is THAT respectless, and doesn´t know it better, or if he´s just a "punk", planning his "performances".
There are always people (e.g Karl Lagerfeld) who are talking about EA as civilized and charming man...are the liars..or is that true...or are they just as crazy as him (would also include Caroline) :p

That's right .. I got info once on building construction or hi-tech ....

I think he is one person in private and another in public.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread ... I don't think EA copes well with being in the media glare all the time - just like Daniel Westling - and also IMO he see's it as a duty to protect his wife ... to take some of the glare off her. Me, being the devil's advocate ... that is the way I read it. If it is that way, then he is noble, and then there could be some justification to comments coming from Karl Lagerfeld.

i agree... i love the way Ernst acts... it shows that public figures don't have to put on these fake acts just because they are a public figure... i also agree that he probably is a different person in private because look at Caroline she doesn't really seem the type to put up with him all the time... which brings the question of who wears the pants in that relationship... I BET CAROLINE!!!

oh i forgot... i didn't LOOK like he is peeing on the pavilion in that picture, i know he did... but if he IS peeing on it the man beside him is STRANGE... why would ANYONE stand that close to someone while they urinated?!?!!?

I don't think this is the picture of Ernst peeing on the Pavillion either. I remember seeing those pictures and footage of the incident (who could miss it, it was everywhere!) at the time and Ernst was alone and it was the back or side of a greyish building. (... The details you remember of notorious incidents years after the fact!)

I like your Avatar .. kittencrews.

It - to me - shows a woman who has found her man. :)

According to several articles the man standing next to Ernst is his bodyguard. Apparently, Ernst asked him to be his shield. Anyway, the German magazine, Bild, had clearer photos of him urinating.

By Toby Helm in Berlin: Bild magazine published transcripts of phone calls in which the Prince allegedy threatened and insulted one of its female journalists over the phone. To compound the drama, police in Hannover began an inquiry into the affair after Anne-Kathrin Berger, a news editor with Bild, alleged that the Prince insulted her over the phone on Sunday. Early in the exchanges, Ms Berger, a long-time acquaintance of the Prince, asked "his royal highness" if he always talked to people so aggressively. "No, only with arseholes like journalists," he said. Later he allegedly referred to her as a "fat arse" and said the newspaper was "****" and that he would have "no mercy" on it. Later, after being asked if he wanted her to switch on a tape recorder, the Prince allegedly said, "Yes, this is your dirty job. Now listen to me as ordinary journalist with the fat arse." Ms Berger asked what his wife thought about his behaviour. "She is here and is enjoying herself. She is elegant like me; only you are inelegant," he replied. Later, the language allegedly became even more heated and obscene. Bild claimed the last call was full of threats and sexual abuse before Ms Berger put the phone down in disgust. Karsten Wolff, spokesman for the Hannover police, said, "We have received a detailed written account from Ms Berger and are waiting for the tapes of the calls to be handed over. I expect both sides will be invited to make a statement. We will pass our findings to the state prosecutor." Mr Röbel said he believed the Prince must be in need of treatment, adding, "I am amazed that Ms Berger managed to stay calm during the calls which I can only describe as telephone terror." Last night, he said that if the Prince denied insulting Ms Berger, he would play the tapes to the media. During the week, Bild has enlisted the help of a posse of German aristocrats who have denounced the Prince. Philipp, Count Walderdorff said: "If Prince Ernst August really used such words he has disqualified himself and acts in a way unbefitting of the style of German aristocracy."

I heard Ernst and the magazine sued one another. Does anyone know what the outcome was?

thank you King Christian... it took me a while to figure out which picture I wanted as my Avatar... I think this one is good.

and I wasn't trying to start an arguement between members, I was just saying I didn't think it looked like Prince Ernst was peeing... I know he did...

:yuk: And he calls himself a prince. That's really childish how he urinates in public..and picks his nose...*shuddeR*

Ernst von Hannover: The Prince and the Pee

When Princess Grace of Monaco was scanning the royal houses of Europe for suitors for her daughters, her favourite candidate for Caroline was Prince Ernst August von Hannover, a man of wealth, impeccable breeding and hopefully a "stabilising influence".

More than two decades later, Grace's wishes have been granted. Ernst and Caroline are married, and the noble Houses of Hanover and Grimaldi are united.

Princess Grace's wish granted: Caroline married Ernst in January 1999

But Ernst's erratic behaviour has long-since earned him the contempt of the German tabloids. And his actions this week have left Grimaldi family observers wondering if he were quite the figure of respect Grace intended for her daughter.

He has hurled a legal barrage at the best selling German tabloid Bild Zeitung, after it published a photograph it claimed to be the Prince urinating onto one of the pavilions at the Expo 2000 fair in Hannover. He denies the photo is of him.

Last July the same newspaper published a much clearer photo of the Prince urinating outside a hospital in Austria.

After this latest alleged indiscretion, the volatile Prince telephoned the newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Anne-Kathrin Berger and launched into a tirade of threats and abusive expletives against her.

The paper responded by publishing the transcript of the conversation. It also traced the call to a clinic specialising in drug and alcohol addiction.

Now, the Turkish Embassy in Berlin has accused the Prince of "insulting the Turkish people". It was their pavilion that he allegedly soiled.

The large Turkish community in Germany is predictably outraged. "He's a Prince and should be intelligent enough to realise when his actions will become political ones," one observer noted.

The Prince and the newspaper are suing each other, and the Prosecutor's office in Hannover is busy studying the tape recordings of the Prince's outbursts.

This is not the first time the beleaguered patriarch of one of Europe's oldest ruling families has reacted badly to media intrusion. In 1998, he was fined £30,000 after breaking the nose of a TV cameraman outside his Hannover ancestral pile.

In June last year, he was bound over for 12 months at a London court following a fight with a freelance photographer. As recently as March, he was before the courts for insulting a police officer. Scuffles with bartenders around the world seem to be a regular occurrence.

Princess Caroline's office admits that "he has been tired lately, overdoing it by helping organise Expo 2000."

Caroline, it has emerged, has visited her chubby-cheeked, chain-smoking husband in the exclusive £600 a day clinic on the River Mosel.

None will welcome his recovery more than Prince Rainier, still smarting from the loucheness of another son-in-law. Princess Stephanie was divorced from her former bodyguard Daniel Ducruet, after he was photographed in a flagrant embrace with Miss Naked Belgium.

It is something of an embarrassment to the British royals, too. The Queen's cousin, Ernst is head of the House of Hannover, which gave Britain five kings and Queen Victoria. He has more royal blood in his veins than the Prince of Wales.

For all his status, impeccable contacts and access to one of Germany's oldest fortunes, Ernst has this week discovered that, as far as Bild is concerned, manners maketh man.

Tabloids have played on the "curse of the Grimaldis" for years, but Ernst will undoubtedly have to learn to control his more reckless impulses if he is to prevent a curse on both his Houses.

kittencrews  Posted: Nov 1st, 2003 - 4:43 pm

was peeing... I know he did...

But for him, it was a case of "innocent until proven guilty".

 But this case was so clear. A few days after the tabloids wrote this, schoolkids (who were inside the pavillion at this time and photographed through the windows) sended a picture of EA to BILD, where you could see him exposed (maybe EA thought an EXPO has something to do with the word exposed ;) )...in the newspaper they didn´t show "little Ernst August" and put a black bar on it. But journalists of the newspaper spoke on TV about EA´s angry phone calls, in which he cursed a lot to the journalists, and there hung a huge picture, of an uncoverd piddling EA in the editoral office.
BTW I´ve done once a practical in this mentioned hospital, and to damage this ruinous building with his urine was the best thing he could do, now they´ve built a new one :p

Ernst is a prince with no class. He needs to learn how to maintain his composure. There are plenty of reasons as to why Caroline refuses to leave him. But, I think the main reason is Alexandra. Caroline probably doesn't want her daughter to grow up in a broken home.

True .... I sometimes wonder if Caroline used her pregnancy to get married to Ernst ?

imo, the bigger reason for the Princess staying put, is because she knows she looks better as a couple. And the notoreity does wonders for people flocking to Monaco, when she shows up for official events.

European royals once perceived the Grimaldis as being minor royals. By marrying Ernst, a prince with more royal blood than Prince Charles of Wales, Caroline brought power and prestige to the House of Grimaldi.

If Caroline divorces Ernst, she will lose the title Her Royal Highness. This title ranks higher than her previous title Her Serene Highness.

Ernst August Prinz von Hannover
Prügelprinz schlägt wieder zu
Sendung vom 7. Oktober 2003

Punishment Prince finds some one new

It seems he cannot let it be. His preferred victims are Journalists. Endangered are all those, who even from afar look like Press. Ernst August, Prinz of Hannover, Duke of Braunschweig and Lüneburg, Son-in-law of the Prince of Monaco is supposed to have beaten someone new. The unending story of the Punishment Prince found a continuation with some festivities in Austria.

There, Ernst August of Hannover came into contact with Dieter Nubert, a journalist from ARD. Dieter had asked Ernst a question in regards to the local cuisine. Apparently that did not satisfy the Prince. This time he did not do the damage himself. Instead, according to Dieter Nubert, two Bodyguards set upon the journalist. With success: the doctors found that Dieter Nubert had torn the tendons in his knee and also has more concussions (Hämatome?). Mr. Nubert has commenced a complaint against Prince Ernst August. EA's lawyer was not available for an interview. What the outcome of this newest chapter of this unending story is not known.

It never ceases to amaze how ironic life can be sometimes. Here Princess Caroline married Pr EA, at least in part, for the prestige and royal titles and he has promtly turned them into a very public laughing stock.

Maybe there's a lesson here -- be careful what you wish for, do not take what's not yours etc. etc. Their story could be the source of a delightful book based on rhyme, reason and consequences.
