Danish Crown Prince Couple Begin Working Visit to the Netherlands

Following the arrival in the Netherlands on Sunday June 19, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary began, on Monday June 20, a two-day working visit to the Netherlands accompanied by a Danish trade delegation.
The first event of the visit was the official opening of the Dutch-Danish business conference at the New Babylon Conference Center in The Hague. The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, was among the present. The business conference was focused on the Danish-Dutch cooperation in the field of green and innovative solutions.
Then the Crown Prince Couple continued the working visit with a separate agenda: the Crown Prince was present at the opening of the seminar “Offshore Wind Energy and Power-to-X”, focused on offshore wind energy and attended by Danish and Dutch companies; in the meantime, the Crown Princess officially opened the seminar “HealthTech and MedTech”, about medical technology and digital healthcare solutions, followed by a panel debate about smart hospitals and the healthcare of the future.
Then, at the New Babylon Conference Center, Crown Prince Frederik, accompanied by Denmark’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, met with Danish students who are currently studying and working in the Netherlands in the field of green transition.
At noon the Crown Prince Couple was reunited to visit company stands from the Danish business delegation at the New Babylon Conference Center and then took place a private lunch.
After lunch Crown Prince Frederik paid a visit to the headquarter of the energy company Royal Dutch Shell to be informed about “the company’s work with Offshore Wind Energy, Power-to-X and hydrogen”. Then, the Crown Prince visited the Dutch Marine Energy Center, an accelerator for marine energy solutions, to be informed about maritime energy solutions with Virtual Reality.
Crown Princess Mary, in the meantime, paid a visit to the provincial government of South Holland. During the visit the Crown Princess attended a roundtable discussion focused on “the decarbonisation (the reduction of CO2) in the built environment”. Then the Crown Princess visited the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, ” a leader in educating artists and designers since 1682″. The Crown Princess met with Dutch and Danish students who are currently working on “sustainable textiles and green conversion”.
Back together, the Crown Prince Couple paid a visit to the Peace Palace in The Hague, house of “the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the United Nations International Court of Justice and The Hague Academy of International Law”. They toured the building, including the fountain donated by Denmark to the Peace Palace in 1923.
The first day ended with an official dinner held in the Grote Kerk, one of The Hague’s oldest buildings. Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands were among the present.
