Continuing his visit to Nepal, Prince Harry today highlighted the important role tourism plays in helping Nepal recover from last year’s disastrous earthquake.

Beginning at the Bardia National Park, the Prince went on a boat ride down the Khauraha River which offers a great opportunity for tourists to spot local wildlife. Harry was also shown the tiger cameras the park rangers use to monitor the 50 tigers which live in the Park.

In the Park’s guest book Harry praised the rangers efforts and thanked them for all their hard work on behalf of “all of us who care for all these amazing animals and the habitat they live in.”

It was then on to Dalla Village to see the homestays which are offered to tourists that provide a large source of income for rural communities. Harry was given a traditional welcome when he arrived, receiving a number of floral garlands and a white scarf.

During both his visit to the Dalla Village and to the village of Leorani, where he spent the evening as a guest of an 86-year-old widow of a Gurkha soldier, Harry met with Gurkha veterans and widows.
