Dutch New Year’s Receptions
The Dutch Royal Family attended the Annual New Year’s Receptions on January 12 and 13.
The first reception, on Tuesday, was held at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima were accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrix and Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven. At the reception were present Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Ministers, political leaders and members of the Dutch society.

In his speech, the King talked about the attacks in Paris saying that “Paris is a city that we feel so connected,” reminding everyone that in March the Royal Couple will be in France for a State Visit. The King also talked about the refugees crisis and the climate deal reached in Paris last month.
About the Dutch Presidency of the European Union King Willem-Alexander said: “The Presidency is a beautiful and highly relevant task, especially in this time, when large numbers of refugees seeking protection in Europe and a common European approach is becoming increasingly urgent. Anyone involved in the Presidency and participation and contribution, I wish every success.”
The Royal Couple arrive for the New Year’s Reception on January 13
Today, Wednesday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima along with Princess Beatrix and Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven held a reception for the members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
