Dutch Royals Attend Remembrance and Liberation Day

On May 4th and 5th, the Dutch Royals attended Remembrance and Liberation Day commemorations. Yesterday, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven attend the 70th commemoration of WWII at the Canadian War Cemetery in Holten. Were present some Canadian veterans and the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, along with his wife Laureen. Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven laid wreaths.

In the late afternoon, Prince Pieter-Christiaan along with Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, visited the Soldier Field of Honour Grebbeberg in Rhenen were took place a memorial ceremony.

Today, May 5 – Liberation Day, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven were in Wageningen to attend the veterans parade. British and Canadian veterans were present for the parade.

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix attended the traditional concert held on the Amstel River in Amsterdam that close the celebrations of the National Liberation. Among others were present the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the Canadian Prime Ministerial couple.
