Prince Friedrich Wilhem of Prussia, the paternal uncle of the current head of the House of Hohenzollern, Georg Friedrich, has passed away at the age of 76, his family confirmed earlier today. He died on Tuesday in Berlin following a long illness.

The Prince, born in February 1939, was the eldest son of Louis Ferdinand, Prince of Prussia and his wife, Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia. The last German Emperor, Wilhelm II, was his great-grandfather.
