Oh, I love Mary's dress.

:previous: In the stills Mary's outfit seems quite harsh and severe though it's a lot better in motion IMO. It could've been livened up with some different coloured jewellery though.

At first I was wondering what Mary was wearing but now it has been explained ,it all looks very elegant and official looking.

For those who may be interested in more details about the new mess uniform for women, here is a brief Ministry of Defense video showing some details from how it was designed.
It consists of a long dress, with a blazer.

The white variant is of course for summer or in places with a hot climate, while the dark is for winter.

Does the Crown Princess hold an honorary rank in the Army ?

Yes and no.

She has earned her rank as a lieutenant in the Home Guard. (Which today is comparable to the Territorial Army in Britain.)
However, AFAIK, she has rarely, if ever, actually served as a guardsman. She has taken part in exercises but that is more in order to create PR for the Home Guard or to inform herself about the work the Home Guard is doing today.

As such Mary is a de facto honorary lieutenant in the Home Guard.
And being a lieutenant, this is the highest rank she can hold without being a regular career officer of the line.
Because there is no such thing as an honorary rank in the Danish military, so I think it's doubtful Mary, when she becomes queen, will become an honorary colonel or even general in the Home Guard.

(As a Crown Princess, she formally outranks everybody else anyway, apart from Frederik and QMII.)

Wonderful ladies Mess

Looking elegent in the proper uniform mess :flowers:

Admit I was a bit worried she was wearing a 'theme' at first as some royal women do. But happy to know its actually a proper uniform on her.

Its a nice elegant black suit, don't mind that its blacl ,Mary pulls it off well.

I like the top part, the straight up and down of the trousers looks too rectangular to me.

Um NO! If she was going to do this, she should have gone for gold shoes and clutch or red shoes and clutch. The mixture with the different pattern on the black shoes, the red clutch, the macrobet skirt and then a velvet top is all wrong. This does not look like a typical Mary evening ware.

I notice she is wearing the Monpesat diamond brooch a gift from her Father-in-law. Not a sartorial choice I would have chosen.

I don't get what's wrong about Mary's outfit as I think she looks gorgeous and I love her skirt in particular.

Mary looks perfect and dignified for a Memorial concert in a church.

Very beautiful, love the top with that flowery skirt.
the highlight was Mary wearing the brooch, that belonged to Henrik's mother and was given to her by Henrik on her engagement. Nice sentimental touch

Hair is stunning. And I love she wore the brooch. :flowers:

I rarely like floral prints, and this is one of them. It just screams upholstery. I am almost not a fan of the length.

I do like the top. It just needs a different bottom.

Mary looks gorgeous. Classic, modern, beautiful. I always love a classic evening look like this. And the modern ponytail fits to the classic look.

Stunning!

Beautiful dress. I only wished the sleeves were removable. It would look spectacular if it was a halter-neck

Ver elegant and beautiful Crown Princess Mary at the gala tonight!
