The Duchess of Sussex's Maternity Fashion: October 2018 -

Fabulous colors! As for the handbag -- a big NO on both the shape and the color. JMHO.

Bold statement colours from Meghan today but I like it - great mix up to see her in bright colours.

I love the colours together. It's a combo I wear myself but with black accessories.

She looks fabulous & I'm coveting the shoes (slightly lower for me).

Love both colours on the Duchess but not together , her hair looks so messy
which is a shame , I'm sorry not keen on no tights either .

I agree!
She looks like one of the Red Hat Ladies!

Well Diana wore some clunkers back in her day so I wouldn’t use that as evidence Meghan is en vogue.

Obviously style is subjective but those colours do not go together imo.

Colors don't have to 'go together' though...this is seen repeated over and over across the decades in fashion.

I like matchy-matchy outfits...but I like to see color blocking like this now and then too.

You anti-bare leg folks need to loosen up....tights are seen less and less even in office settings these days (unless company policy prohibits it but that is going away too). Starting to only be seen at formal events anymore here in the U.S.

Matchy matchy is out dated and screams matronly. Or someone who can't figure out how to pair colors so just wears all the same. Meghan is neither.

Lovely to see Meghan continue to support commonwealth brands. Just as her and Harry being appointed to commonwealth roles. Reminds us they don't just represent Canada on the rare visit.

Love the coat. It's a beautiful color and I love the detail :flowers:

Not a fan of the purple, not my favorite color. Would have looked better with black as it would gave toned down the color.

I don't find get bun any more messy then hair down and always fidgeting with it.

I think very few companies in US, if any, still actually require tights. I work for a company located in a very conservative town, even we don't have to policy anymore (our previous CEO wanted women to wear them, but even then it's optional). I honestly can't remember when was the last time I saw anyone in nude tights. I wear black tights in dead of winter when I wear a skirt or dress, but more because I have to wear boots.

 No, no, no! Meghan wears enough black already! :bang:

I'm loving the DoS Meghan's rare bright color choices and her easy, breezy, non-fussy style aesthetic.

There's a possibility she will wear black this evening, but I hope it's something less expected like burgundy or a shade of dark green, or even teal blue, or white, rather than her usual black or navy.

Doesn't mean it looks good. :D

Commonwealth brands-Canadian.

Canadian brands are fine if she is representing Canada, but for a British Duchess doing an engagement in the UK, IMO, Canadian is not fine.

But as we have consistently seen, Meghan does not seem to care too much about supporting British business or jobs, when it comes to her sartorial choices. This may just be one of the reasons the Press has turned on her!

There are pics of Diana wearing the same mix of colors back in the days. I do not see anything shocking about them

Had not realised that Diana did not get it wrong ever, or she was the standard other royal ladies had to dress to! :flowers:

The Duchess of Sussex in Birkenhead today, January 14, wearing a Babaton by Aritizia dress and a Sentaler coat:

** Full view ** Full view 2 ** Side view ** Upper part ** Upper part/Side view **

Oh Boy that is colour, and thank the lord. I LOVE that she's wearing colour, however red and purple look horrid together and particularly with Meghans complexion for me. The purple dress with her trench, or a white coat or vice versa but they are too bold to sit together, particularly with a bump.

Love the detail on the coat, the dress is a little too tight for me personally and again the shoes are to die for.

Yay for colour, nah for the outfit.

Well, at least not to some. ? But there's always different strokes for different folks.

Slay and sashay, Duchess of Sussex Meghan! :D I love that DoS Meghan pleases herself 'always in all ways!'

There's no need, and indeed it's quite impossible, to please the preferences and demands of all of the people all of the time.

Three cheers for color! And not only color but colors that look beautiful with her hair color and skin tone. :flowers:

That said, I really think she looks absolutely beautiful in both colors but not both colors together. I'm not a huge fan of the color combination and if she insisted on that combo I think black accessories would have been best. I really, really hate that handbag, both color and style. However, both colors individually are stunning on her as are the darker jewel tone colors like burgundy and emerald and amethyst that we've occasionally gotten to see so if tonight's outfit should fall into one of those categories I'd be thrilled.

While the red is very, very becoming I just don't like that style of coat. I'm over the whole bathrobe style, particularly on very petite women like Meghan. There's just nothing flattering about that style. And while I'm not really on board with the purple/red combo, I absolutely adore those shoes. If she must wear black can we please see a black/white combo with those shoes and a red bag? Pretty please???

As for her hair...this particular style would work well on weekends or for a much more casual engagement. For something much less casual, like today's engagement, it doesn't really work for me. However, she looks beautiful in the half up/half down style and that would have been a terrific choice for today.

I'm happy to say, though, that my first thought when seeing today's pictures was "finally, colors!" and not "oh good grief." Hopefully we get to see much, much more of this type of look.

While the colors are similar the way they are worn is very different, which creates a different vibe.
The left picture is of a red dress and a small purple fabric addition, it’s not a great look color wise but the purple is far smaller and thus the colors don’t compete as with Meghan outfit.

The right picture is a a miss but the white top helps a bit to soften the look. The hat is awful but would have look awesome as an accessory without the jacket on.

In addition: the fabrics used are very different. Meghan looks off because her fabrics are heavier while Diana’s are lighter. The look given is vastly different.

There's still a few places here (conservative midwest..banking and law firms perhaps city businesses) that have hosiery listed as a requirement but that's about it. I think those will even drop it in the next few years.

Every observer's preferences are their own, of course. I think the person who posted the photos is pointing out the similar color combination, notwithstanding variant fabrics, eras, styles, royal events, skin, eye and hair coloring between these fab ladies.

Thanks for that find. Totally different eras. Totally rocking, stylish ladies. Perhaps they have met in spirit. ;)

Thus is certainly one way to alienate yourself further.

She is never going to win with the press...so no point in listening to anything they have to say.

Press or no press, there is a simple issue of supporting businesses and jobs in the country you are supposedly representing.

:previous:

Of which Meghan has already done an outstanding, exemplary job, almost without even lifting a finger. ;)

Anyone has only to recall the jobs and revenue Meghan has generated for a number of British design labels, clothes manufactrers and accessory brands, in addition to other businesses in Britain and in Commonwealth countries.

As has been reported, the British economy has received a notable boost in many ways since the engagement and marriage of the Sussexes, via the sale of wedding memorabilia, tourism, and increased positive interest in Great Britain, and in the British royals as a whole.

I was thinking about the Red Hat Ladies too! I do like the colors though I am not sure I could pull it off. I even like the brown handbag - it's different and I am getting tired of clutches.

Which she has been doing since shortly after their engagement was announced.
