Today, Mary will with the Mary Foundation hold their annual 'Free For Bullying' children relay run. Every year there is a run both in Copenhagen (Zealand) and Aarhus (Jutland and Mary usually switched between them. So this year, Mary participates in Aarhus.

The run in Aarhus is always a bit smaller than in Copenhagen beacuse there is less space in the garden in Aarhus compared to the large park in Copenhagen. The 'Free For Bullying' runs are popular and have actually each have sets new record of participants. This year they reported that all tickets were sold out about a week ago.

"All tickets are unfortunately sold out. The number of sold tickets exceeds by far the number that we have previously been Aarhus. We have a limit in order to ensure that the run will be a good experience for all participating children."

I will attend with my friend and our children to the run i Copenhagen :)

:previous: Yes she beams, and Mary can rightfully be proud and happy for her Free For Bullying project! :)

Great coverage in both tonight's DR1 and TV2 main news.

Here the clip from tonight's DR1 news:
https://www.dr.dk/tv/se/tv-avisen-med-sporten/tv-avisen-med-sporten-og-vejret-2015-05-30#!/12:59

Mary tells:

"That there come so many children, happy and ready, for running against bullying makes me incredibly happy and it helps to create even more attention to that we have to do something against bullying."

"It's a great pleasure that the figures proves to be going in the right direction, but there are still far too many of our children who are bullied in our kindergartens and schools."

The boy - the 10-year-old Jakob Lunddal think today's run was totally nice. And what was extra great? Jakob has previously met Mary - and Mary - she could still remember his name!!

Video from BB:

The man who presents Mary is Bubber (Denmark probably most popular TV host/children TV host for the past 20 years) and he presents Mary with the words: "Welcome to the World's Best Crown Princess". :)

Mary's Free For Bullying is by the way integrated in almost 50 % of all Denmark's kindergartens and in 35 % of our schools.

I don't think we should expect much more as this was a quick visit with Mary Foundation and not so officially in this way. We also see Mary's quick meeting trips of 1-2 days in New York with her Task Force group doesn't have press acces. As we have heard it's simply because they at these quick meeting trips prefer to have quiet to focus on meetings.

It's a tough week for Mary this week! With the 'Forbis 400 Summit meeting' yesterday and with the time difference and a flight trip of eight hours back home Mary must has flown during the night and soon land in Denmark - tonight she is ready to officially event with Frederik and the DRF, as well as tomorrow morning and the next day it is the Samsø visit with Bella.

Mary Fonden gives on their Facebook site more information and a picture from Mary's 2 days visit in New York with the Mary Foundation:

Showing once again how popular and well integrated Mary's Free For Bullying project is in Denmark.

The Mary Foundation informs today on their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/maryfonden...9000594147871/860478414000082/?type=1&theater

For the first time we must announce there is sold out to the Free of Bullying Children Relay Race in Copenhagen on Saturday in Fælledparken. Although we have had a record number of tickets this year, the last one is already gone. We look forward to seeing Fælledparken buzzing with music, life and lots of cute children and their parents, when we again run 1 km against bullying. Mr. Beard, Kristian from Ramasjang mystery and Buddy Bear is ready with medals at the finish line for all children.
Mary switches to participate in the children relay between Aarhus (Jutland) and Copenhagen, and as you know, she last month attended a also sold out relay in Aarhus and will therefore not participate in Copenhagen on Saturday this year (at least not officially.)

Busy day for Mary in Odense today, but Mary has also sent a personal greeting out on Facebook to all the 'Free For Bullying' children who tomorrow will attend the Mary Foundation's Children Relay in Copenhagen:

Again we see how Mary communicate in a modern way via the social media through her Mary Foundation :)

"Dear all participants in the Free from Bullying Children relay tomorrow who will run in Fælledparken in Copenhagen with more children than ever. I am so happy and proud that so many will help to say no to bullying. I had the great pleasure to participate in Aarhus this year when a record number of runners completed and loudly said no to bullying. I wish you all a fantastic day in the community's name. Best regards the Crown Princess"

And writes this thoughtful message to the picture:

A summer greeting from the Crown Princess:
"This picture is a good memory from last summer. Summer is for many associated with light, joy and time to be with family and friends. But for some people the summer amplifier the feeling of loneliness because the social life moves out into the light. Therefore, we must remember those we tend to forget - even in the bright time. Have a very good summer.
Greeting the Crown Princess "

The children are back in school and F&M back to work after their summer vacation. (Today was the first day back in school for all Danish school children, it means of course Christian and Bella as well)

Today Mary held a meeting with the Mary Foundation they inform us on their Facebook page:

Picture: https://www.facebook.com/maryfonden...29600.159000594147871/884066201641303/?type=1

"Today we held a meeting with Dr. Maria Furtwängler from Germany who herself is involved in the work against domestic violence and therefore wanted to hear more about the Mary Foundation's efforts. The main focus of the meeting was the project "Advice for Life" and the unique collaboration between the Mary Foundation, Nykredit, Mothers and LOKK. Representatives of Mothers and Nykredit sat at the table and told in detail about their roles as partners in the project.

Advice for Life has helped more than 2,700 women to a life without violence and hopefully the project and its results inspire similar efforts in other countries.

Advice for Life is free economic, social and legal advice to disadvantaged and abused women. Read more on the Mary Foundation's website: http://www.maryfonden.dk/da/råd-til-livet"

Thanks! I think this is a follow up from Bambi Award, Maria Furtwängler is married to Dr. Burda.

The Mary Foundation has a website - also in English version - if people want good information about the Mary foundation's work. Also Mary's arrangements in the fund which not always are written in the official royal calendar:

The Mary Foundation announces a new project.

Next week, Crown Princess Mary with the Mary Foundation and Center For Family Development launches a new project - 'Kærligt talt' (Lovingly Said) - a new teaching programme with focus on handling difficult emotions for older school children. 'Kærligt talt' consists of a talk show where the popular TV host Mikkel Kryger has a lot of different people in the studio - young people, experts and well-known Danes. And among the performers are the very popular dancer Silas Holst who himself has experienced domestic violence. Together they put on words at the hard feelings - and not least they work with the feelings to make them easier to handle.

Press release:

Kærlig Talt med Mary Fonden - Kongehuset

This morning, Crown Princess Mary with the Mary Foundation launches a new campaign Kærligt Talt (A Lovingly Talk) on Guldberg School in Copenhagen.

The Mary Foundation has developed educational materials for the country's 8 grade classes to give young people the tools to prevent violent relationships.

In every primary school class there statistically are two students who before the age of 24 years old will end in a violent relationship. (Shocking, isn't it?)

That statistics the Mary Foundation would like to change and they has now developed teaching materials that will focus on the different types of dating violence there exist. Students should be equipped to build healthy relationships and prevent violence. It should also help to develop students' ability to handle difficult emotions, and teach them how to create secure relationships among others by giving them specific communication tools.

This morning at 9am, Crown Princess Mary will hold a speech about the project and after she will attend the event. TV host Mikkel Kryger will from the stage to introduce elements from 'Kærligt Talt' for example through conversations with guests and by making mindfulness exercises with the students.

Thank you Roskilde. :flowers:

This is indeed a topic that is crucial to put focus on: Abusive relationships among the young.

http://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelige/danmark/kronprinsesse-mary-kaemper-sunde-relationer

The campaign Kærligt Talt is a wordplay that can be translated to something like: "said frankly but lovingly".

For the 16-24 year olds who are in a relationship, 7.4 % of the girls and 4.8 % of the boys have experienced some form of abuse by their partner.
(That's actually a drop from years back).

The area Mary visited today, Nørrebro, is an immigrant heavy area of Copenhagen and it is a sad fact that abuse within relationships among immigrants and their descendants is higher than average. As such the majority of women who seek refuge at shelters are now immigrants and descendants.
However, that's the women. Men and boys who are abused have few places to go. It is still not taken too seriously when a girl/women abuse a guy be that physically or psychologically. Another matter are gay relationships where abuse is also a problem, especially because the system really isn't geared to deal with a gay man being abused.

Why do young people abuse?
Well, some, albeit the minority have experienced abuse themselves or seen a parent being abused while growing up. So to them abuse is normal.

Others are simply immature and inexperienced and react basically like children, when confronted with the problems there are in a relationship and with the emotions involved.
And the person in the receiving end is inexperienced too and don't know how to react. Especially if the person has never experienced or seen abuse before.
In most cases it does not occur to the parents to sit down and explain the rules of a relationship to their children. Why explain the obvious? And surely the children learn from observing their parents? - Hopefully yes, but far from always.

Then there is insecurity. The abuser is insecure and abuse to hold on to the one he/she loves.
The abused is insecure and accept being abused in order to hold on to that person who cares for him/her.

But perhaps the most important reason for accepting abuse is shame. Perhaps even more so at a young age.
Most people fortunately realize that it's shameful to abuse, but to do something about is another matter. And here a strange co-operation form between the abuser and the abused: Let's keep this quiet.
Because it's even more shameful to be abused, and the longer the abuse takes place the more shameful it is.
Imagine a 24 year old woman who is attending university and doing well. Lives in a small flat with a nice guy, who earns well. Have a nice little home, go on vacation abroad every year. Picture perfect, right? Should she admit her life is not perfect? That the whole thing is just a facade? That she's weak? A failure?
Or the 18 year old who has moved in with her boyfriend and who would like to impress those around her with this fantastic relationship. What to do? Admit to all it was just an illusion?

Keep in mind that a person who breaks out from a long-time abusive relationship, has a battered and low self-esteem and while that person will get sympathy there are also incriminations: Why did you take it? - Why didn't you just walk out? - I really thought you were stronger. - Okay, to be honest, you really can be a bitch sometimes. and so on...

So what to do?
Information.
Putting down basic guidelines for what is acceptable in a relationship.
Offer advise to how to deal with problems.
Tell them again and again: You are not the only one.
And that's what the Mary Foundation is doing.

- To that I would like to add an advise someone gave me and Mrs. Muhler many years ago: Sometimes it's better to let your children overhear what you want them to know, rather than telling them.
Children, especially when they are tweens, have very long ears! So it can be a good idea to "discuss between adults" what you want them to know when they are within earshot.
Say talking about how abuse is wrong, period! And what can be done about it, while little Lise is sitting in the other end of the room texting away - and her ears are picking up everything!
We've tried that a number of times and to our delight experienced a couple of times how one of our children have "casually" touched the subject a couple of days later. Then we took it from there.
