Re white tie is white tie , I agree that both the Met Gala , and The Nobel events in Sweden are both regarded white tie . However The Met Gala is an event with a different prescribed theme on every occasion . Guests are expected to to be fashion forward. The Nobel white tie events on the other hand, are to honour lifetime achievements of the winners . Whilst the dresses of the SRF ladies are always something I look forward to I don't expect to immediately think of the Met Gala when I see them.

I think that while creating Victoria's dress, Pär Engsheden has used Victoris's old dress and made the top part new.

I think that this is the dress which has been used, Victoria wore it at a state visit to Denmark in 2007 and at an official photo too.

You could be right! Great find my lady.

Why would you pay a designer to ruin a perfectly nice beautiful red dress with all that Christmas market material is beyond me.

Crown Princess Victoria's hair and jewels were the only saving grace.

For some odd reason I like the red dress, the colour is great and it’s different,I could see Queen Margrethe wearing it .

I like the dress, too! It is a whole lotta dramatic look, though---and I agree with you, it needs a Margrethe or Maxima frame to wear it to best advantage. CP Victoria's special brand of magic includes many wins, especially wearing the Cameo tiara and looking beautiful. Her feminine/athletic beauty seems to be overwhelmed by this dress.

I really hate this look. For me many of Victoria's looks are either hit or miss and this one is definitely a miss. She looks so much better in looks that are not oversized. This one is just so much material and swamps her.

I'm afraid I cannot agree totally with that last remark . Whilst I have made clear my own feelings about the "costume " ,worn by HRH on the first night of the 2019 Nobel's ,HRH has shown that she can indeed wear ,[ and not be worn by },gowns of considerable volume , most notably the glorious gown worn in 2014 . Perfection both at rest and in movement .

I really liked the red japon. Very royal. The only distraction was that strange shawl, which ook away the clear lines of the dress. Such statuesque dresses are a regular feature amongst royal ladies.

If you are right and I think you are, I wonder if there is any hope that the top is some sort of over-blouse and the original dress is still there underneath.

I Liked her Black dress she wore, just not keen on the material it remind me of a blanket, but the top design really suited her it was rather sexy too.

This is a nice elegant dress. Compared to her recent horrors, it is stunning.
