And Mary is the only princess with all this?

Why is it, that being active, slim and having a healthy lifestyle seems to be a very negative thing
only when Mary is concerned?

Hey just because one writes it, it not means us others. Mary and not least Frederik are very active people who love sports, to be active and to have a healthy strong body. It's more than clearly that to run in the nature and exercise is for them freedom and a way to get rid of other thoughts (just the same way like I have it, I couldn't live without my joggings in the nature ) The lifestyle they (thankfully) seems to lead on to their children who all seems like some active children who already love to be active and have fun with it.

Let's move forward:

Mary yesterday afternoon handed out a award in Copenhagen in a white dress with a narrow belt at the waist:

quite true but i also think its personal effort as well.
i can name at least one other royal lady that has the same budget and help around but yet constantly looks off at official events

Mary has made the most of her circumstances.

She looks stunning in the white love the look... I agree we could all look a little better with all that help.. but she looks amazing and you can only manage that yourself .. but yes the help helps.

I can understand what you are saying. But to put it in perspective, Mary (and other royals) are required - by convention rather than anything else - to dress up each time they make a public appearance, in the same way as an ordinary woman on the street might dress up to go out to dinner, a concert, a luncheon or, indeed, a wedding. It therefore follows, that if the ordinary woman on the street had to attend any of these events every day of their lives rather than once a week or once or twice a month, she would indeed require a larger budget and some additional help.

As it stands, society does not now require the ordinary woman on the street to wear coat, hat and gloves, pearls, immaculate hair and make-up and granny's diamond brooch each and every day plus a change of clothes for the evening. If it did, women would adjust to the situation and make time or get up earlier to put it all on before going out.

Thanks for the ID of Mary's dress, dazzling! It is a very elegant, yet simple look that Mary wears so well. Love that she changed the belt from the original one.

As far as I can see, nobody said it was only Mary with access to all the services mentioned, but when talking about Mary all of them apply.

I also don't see anyone saying that a healthy lifestyle is a very negative thing only when Mary is concerned. Nobody here has said a healthy lifestyle is a bad thing at all, because it's obviously a good thing for everyone.

I agree, with emphasis on 'now". Times have indeed changed, but it was very much the case with well-to-do ladies in the 1950's and 1960's. Now it just looks old-fashioned.

OK. Queen Margrethe, Princesses Benedikte, Mary and Marie are all dressing in 1950's and '60's retro and are all horrendously old-fashioned. Hmm, wonder why millinery shops abound, fashionable clothing (both couture and off-the-rack) shops are selling well and the cosmetics business is going gang-busterw and the trade in fabulous shoes and tiny, expensive clutches are off the scale.

Someone ought to tell them that when next they leap out of the Rolls at the Opening of Parliament (or any other state occasion) that the dress of the day is "jeans and". A Ponytail will do to keep hair off their faces and just a smidgeon of sun block is now de rigueur.

Did I say old-fashioned is a bad or horrendous thing? I think not.

You may call it "old-fashioned", "retro" or "vintage", but it's the same thing; things that were the "latest" in the 50's and 60's. They are not currently. It's neither good nor bad, it just is.

A lot of people like vintage, and a lot of people don't, and yet another lot prefer something else.

Why should they be told to wear "jeans and"? Why should that be the dress style for the opening of the parliament? OK, they are your opinions and I'll respect them as such. I don't think jeans would be an ideal choice for the event, but wouldn't exclude them either.

Rolls Royce is neither here nor there, and I don't think jeans and Rolls Royce are mutually exclusive.

I don't think they needed any sunblock for crossing the street in October, but in summer one needs a lot of sunblock these days when running around with one's face exposed. That's because things have changed.

(...) She is always well put together and ready every time she steps foot out the door of the palace, in fact she even looks fabulous in jeans and a sweat shirt.
She is just naturally beautiful and takes care of herself as we all should.

Mary recycling the Jayson Brunsdon skirt from the photoshoot.

I like the outfit better from the photoshoot, the top matches better and the shoes too, Marys shoes are too busy with the skirt. The skirt itself is very pretty.

That's a lovely skirt for Mary. So did she get to keep the clothes after the photoshoot or were they get clothes in the first place?

As I understand it, they were provided for the shoot but I think Mary choose them and, being an astute woman who doesn't have to be told twice that she looks great, whipped out the old Black Card and zapped it.

Of the gowns from the shoot, I have not seen one I didn't like and this fabulous skirt is a definite winner. The ballerina or Tea length gowns seem to be making a comeback and this one looks great. I was surprised to see that the back seems a little lower than the front, but it is by no means a mullet dress. I have to admit I like this black top more than the original as it has a distinctly more "evening" look to it and provides a frame for those fantastic earrings. Less really is more!
