Dutch State Visit to Norway: Last Day – Trondheim

On Thursday November 11, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands spent their last day of the Norwegian state visit in Trondheim accompanied by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

The Royal Couple and the Crown Prince Couple paid a visit to Powerhouse Brattørkaia, “Norway’s largest newly built plus house” that produce more clean and renewable energy over their life cycle than what is used for the production of building materials, construction, operation and disposal of the building.

Then they visited the SINTEF Ocean, the Norwegian Center for Plankton Technology that “conducts research and innovation related to the ocean space for national and international industry”. The Royal Couple and the Crown Prince Couple toured the laboratories and were informed about the work of the Center.

The next visit was at the Maritime Robotics where the King, the Queen and the Crown Prince Couple were informed about the work of maritime research equipment.

At lunchtime Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted a luncheon in honour of the King Willem-Alexander and the Máxima at Stiftsgården, the King’s official residence in Trondheim. The mayor of Trondheim was among the guests.

In the afternoon King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, along with the Crown Prince Couple, paid a visit to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), technical university.

At the university the Royal Couple and the Crown Prince Couple toured the campus, met with the students who demonstrate research projects in the field of energy transition and attended a panel focused on hydrogen and wind energy.

The visit ended at the Nidaros Cathedral where the King, the Queen, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit toured the Church and attended a concert performed by singers from the Sami community.
