I have serious issues about these self styled 'activists' disrupting peoples daily lives/ events and also defacing works of art and monuments

I hope they get a hefty fine or made do community Service.

I agree with you, I also get really annoyed when they prevent the general public going about their business. There have been stories of people losing wages, staff unable to get to work in hospitals, some poor person was trying to get to see their dying parent . I just wonder how they all live as they do not appear to work .

I read a story today about 2 British Youtubers who infiltrated Just Stop Oil with a mole, found out that they had their morning meetings over coffee in Pret a manger, and disrupted their celebratory banquet in east London by setting off rape alarms tied to helium balloons - 'just deserts' one might say!

"Following the conclusion of its own independent investigation and governance review last year, the charity is moving forward with a continued focus on delivering the education and training programmes for which it has been established." -

I remember this being discussed on one of the sports radio stations a few weeks ago - before the St Ledger.

And Diana’s nieces Amelia and Eliza are scheduled to be there that day Iluvbertie, (and on Oaks Day).

Do we know when the King & Queen are back in London? I understand they returned to Scotland straight from Bordeaux.

Alas King Charles’ stallion “Desert Hero” has been withdrawn from running in next week’s eight million dollar Melbourne Cup.

Despite clearing pre-quarantine testing, the trainer has decided to spell the horse, with a possible future run in coming years.

What would royal watchers do without the Daily Mail sharing from Omid Scobie's latest mud slinger. How sinfully pampered of King Charles, ironed shoelaces and an inch of toothpaste on his brush. ;) Always lovely to see the King. :flowers:

I thought the whole "toothpaste" debacle was originally due to the then POW needing a lot of help after he badly broke his arm playing polo?

This completely makes sense, Laura. Many of what now appear idiosyncratic penchants began in a similar way, over the King's lifetime. The broken arm event in 1990 was very nasty requiring a secondary surgery. Whatever makes King Charles' life easier at 75, I'm all for. "Long live the King".

I just read an article where everyone denied it was Kate and PKing Charles who said something bad. Even Scoobie denied it was in the book according to the article. It was on Smart News. I can try to find it again.

Who is the lady joining them for the first advent service?

Aw see I like this just before Christmas. And I wasn't able to hear King Charles first Christmas speech last year-I hope to hear it this year. Nothing against Camillas family but I'm not interested in them. I'm hoping to see pictures of the royal family(Anne's, Edward's and Andrew's children as well as William and his family) on their way to church
We'll see.

Annabel Elliot, Queen Camilla's sister. She's also an official "Queen's Companion". Camilla has always been very close to her family and Annabelle was widowed earlier this year so they have been spending lots of time together. I believe they have been an immense support to each other throughout their lives.

Thanks. Her face was hard to see but she does look like Camilla. Glad to see that the sisters are able to spend time together and support each other.

Wonder if Annabel has overseen some redecorating of Sandringham in time for Christmas

That may be possible. But then again, it could just be Annabel spending the weekend with C&C.

Oh completely - I think she is just with them for family time, I meant more widely I wonder if Annabel has helped redo some of Sandringham's interiors.

I am sure changes will be made to the interiors of Sandringham, as Charles & Camilla progress from having been visitors there, to it being their Norfolk home. What we do not know is how extensive those changes will be, and if Annabel is involved in any formal way.

Charles has already put in a lot of effort into the Sandringham estate, including the gardens, where a maze has been put in.

There are reports coming out this morning here in Oz that the King and Queen will visit Australia and NZ next year:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...s-Queen-Camilla-Set-Australia-visit-2024.html

This article is mentioned the Sydney Morning Herald as its source but I don't pay for that so I don't have a link.

Just a few notes about the reasons:

Bicentenary of the NSW Upper House ... in 1824 the British Parliament and George IV gave the Governor of NSW the right to appoint an advisory board called the Council to help him run the colony due to how much it had grown. In the 1850s an elected Legislative Assembly was then permitted and the Council became the Upper House of the NSW parliament and called the Legislative Council. It was the last legislative chamber in Australia to actually become an elected body (I remember voting in the referendum to make it an elected house which it should be of course but sometimes with some of those elected I think it would be better if it was still appointed ... but only when I hear one of the more fringe members speak and for a few seconds as I support democracy).

The other reasons being mentioned are horse races. The AJC that runs Royal Randwick (so named due to the late Queen's visit there in 1954 - that was where my parents went to see her on that visit) has named one of the major races in the Spring Carnival after the King. Last year at Ascot one of the people in the carriage procession one day was the man who runs racing in NSW and the man behind keeping horse racing going during the covid lockdowns ... to the delight of the late Queen who watched the races from Australia while in the UK. The second race mentioned in the Melbourne Cup, which they attended in 2012 when Camilla presented the Cup. That is Australia's biggest race and is described as 'the race that stops the nation' and it always held on the first Tuesday in November (in peace time at least).

A trip to Aus & NZ to dovetail the CHOGM in Samoa makes sense. That there are other events in Aus at the same time makes sense.

I don't understand what the big deal is about ironed shoelaces anyway! If I had more time I would probably do it for myself. Secondly, if I had a valet taking care of my wardrobe it would probably be his idea. Finally, I bet that ironed shoelaces last a lot longer thus eliminating the need to replace them... this stupid accusation of alleged snobbery makes me so mad I think I'm going to start ironing my shoelaces....

Looking presentable is desirable for everybody. I've known very modest people who dress and take care of their clothes impeccably....
