Mr O’Neill intends to not apply for Swedish citizenship and also continue with his career following his marriage. As the royal family’s policy regarding who can be a member of the family states that a member needs to be both a Swedish citizen and not hold a “position of responsibility” in a business. Therefore, Mr O’Neill does (at this time) does not qualify for a royal title, and will remain a private citizen.

Princess Madeleine and Mr O’Neill’s joint monogram was also released today, it was designed by Vladimir A Sagerlund and features two interlocking Ms and Cs.

The couple is currently in Stockholm, having arrived earlier this week ahead of their marriage banns this coming Sunday.
