An article at the website for young people with disabilities. Elin tells about her trip to Victoria's birthday in Solliden.
I hoped to have a glimpse of Victoria and possibly at best get to shake hands, but that it would be as good as it actually was, none of us could have dreamed about that in our wildest imagination.
As we entered the Palace gate there was a girl who received us and she said I would get a place right in front of the Palace so I would see really well.
- Only you with a wheelchair and the crown princess are allowed to go there, she said.
I didn't believe my eyes but it was true. She showed us there and the band played when we arrived. We passed the whole press and the reporters to get where we were to stand. We stood just in front of the Palace, as said.
At 11 o'clock the family came out of the Palace and the king held a welcome speech, which he usually does. The king was in a really good mood!
After the king's speech, the royals got around and greeted the people, and I was among the first whom the Crown Princess greeted.
Before she came to me, I chatted a little bit with Prince Daniel, who at the time had little Prince Oscar on his arms.
This whole experience resulted in my long-awaited photo with Crown Princess Victoria.
It really was an amazing experience and I thought it was so good that they really took time and greeted everyone who was there.
I read then that Victoria shook hands with people for three hours and I think that is admirable. The king and queen came and talked to us twice, and it became a long conversation about everything possible. Among other things, Mom pointed out that the service was fantastic and the king nodded.
I had thought I would shake hands with the crown princess, but I stood there shaking hands with almost the entire royal family, and I was seen at TV4's live broadcast I've seen in retrospect.
Many thanks to Sollidens staff
I can't thank enough Solliden's staff for the excellent service we received, it was truly an experience beyond the ordinary and it has created a memory for me that will be with me for the rest of my life, thank you very much, it may take a few years, but I'll definitely go there again.

Tonight is the private 40th birthday party for Victoria at Haga Palace. Margareta Thorgren confirmed it to the media and told that it is a surprise party which Daniel has organized for Victoria. She didn't want to comment the party more because it is private.
Daniel has prepared it for months with their friends.
Victoria arrived at 18.00 to Haga Palace, where foreign royals and friends waited for her at a party tent. At 18.20 a congratulation song was song for Victoria.
Seen arriving: Crown prince Haakon and princess Märtha Louise, Madeleine and Chris, Oscar and Emma Magnuson, Peter Forsberg and Nicole Nordin, Caroline and Peder Dinkelspiel, Leonie and Karl-Johan Persson, Charlotte Bonde.

According to Svensk Damtidning, Haakon and Märtha Louise arrived already at 15.00 to Haga Palace, and they are staying the night there.

Expressen has more photos of the arrivals. The theme of the party is "Beach". In the park of the Haga Palace area there are several white party tents set up and a rigorous sound system. Around the area there are beach designs of various kinds together with sparkling volanger. The king's chef Stefano Catenacci and other cooks from Operakällaren arrived to Haga Palace at lunch time. Catenacci is also a friend of the royal family. Photographer Kate Gabor came too. Of Victoria's friends we can see at the photos also Caroline Kreuger Nilsson, Josephine Génetay, Martina Gahn Liska, Jan Dinkelspiel, Louise and Johan Lindh.
We can see at the photos also Daniel's brother-in-law Mikael Westling Söderström and niece Hedvig Blom at the backseat, so I think sister Anna was sitting beside Mikael.
According to Expressen, Victoria has rejected all the efforts from friends that she, like the others in the circle of friends, will have a birthday party.
But neither Daniel nor her closest friends would give up. So the closest circle around the Crown Princess Victoria - with Prince Daniel in the lead - under great secrecy has planned a surprise celebration to celebrate Victorias 40th birthday. Everything has taken place on Prince Daniel's initiative. Victoria was fooled away from Haga Palace to allow the staff to organize a truly grand 40th birthday party. Among others "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars" was played during the evening.
Chef Stefano Catenacci left Haga Palace at 00.30. Chris and Madeleine left just before 01.30. Mats Sundin was seen leaving too.
