Gorgeous.

My heart is melting with the little girl. She´s there representing the ONCE, the Spanish National Organization for Blind People, and as you can deduce for her stick, she´s blind.

The ONCE is receiving the Prince of Asturias Award to the concord, and that has been one of the most celebrated awards this year. The ONCE is very appreciated among Spaniards.

It's a White Cane not a stick. I have one and get so tired of hearing it referred that way. Now if it looked like I'd hacked it off a tree, then...

Sorry if I sound snippy, but it is a major pet peeve of not just me, but others in the Blind/Visually Impaired Community as well. That picture of Letitzia hugging that little girl is priceless. :)

So sorry Tiggersk, I didn´t know what was the correct word in English, that´s because I referred it that way

Thanks for the correction, I will remember the correct name from now on.

The Princes of Asturias are at their "more in touch with people" moment of the year (and my favourite one :p) and it shows:

Thank you for saying domething. I use a cane too, and hate when people call it 'a stick'. Many don't realize the importance of a cane yo somrine with a visual impairment; it's a way to be independent, as well, as a way to be identified when traveling. So, yes it's not just a stick. It's a very helpful tool.

There is a big difference between loving children and having great empathy with them and having them in the house 24/7.
