The Princess Royal this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for the United States of America and was received this afternoon upon arrival at John F Kennedy International Airport, New York, by His Majesty’s Consul-General for New York (Mrs Emma Wade-Smith).

Her Royal Highness, President, the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, later visited the Headquarters of the English-Speaking Union of the United States, 144 East 39th Street, New York.

The Princess Royal, President, the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, this evening attended a Gala Dinner at the Cosmopolitan Club, 122 East 66th Street, New York.

Mr Charles Davies is in attendance.

It has been reported that Anne has become Patron of Eric Liddell 100 a group seeking to keep the legacy of the rugby player, marathon runner and missionary alive. He is the inspiration behind the film Chariots of Fire.

Hello! finds this fascinating because Anne has never shown any interest in running but she is Patron of Scottish Rugby.

It seems to have been reported today but the charity itself appears to have announced it last April. I couldn't see a post about it here though.
