On May 30 Queen Mathilde will be honored with an Honorary Doctorate of the Hasselt University. Both Queen Mathilde and the university are turning 50 this year and Principal Bernard Vanheusden explained that the decision was made in order "to honor her strong role in addressing pertinent problems in our society. Whether it concerns upbringing and education, child poverty, mental health or the position of women here and in the Global South.
