Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

Queen Mary looked stunning in the pearl tiara. It looks perfect on her and she wears it beautifully. Due to her dark hair the pearls stand out much better than when QMII wore it.

The hairpin was a nice touch that perfectly complemented her look. I wonder if the gems are real?

Not a fan either; might have worked with a round instead of V-neck. But in general, I don't like the combination of multiple unrelated necklaces.

The gold band or the dainty initial necklaces but not both.

I wasn't a fan of the gold band necklace ,it might have looked better with a different dress or without the other smaller necklaces.

Agreed. Her outfit was just beautiful, but I didn’t think the gold band necklace really complimented her dress. It seemed a bit heavy.

I think just the simple pendant necklaces would have worked better. I like the layering trend- but those 2 very different styles didn’t work together imo.

Also- the gold band is such a statement piece that I didn’t even notice the smallest pendant anyway on the first- or second- lol- look.

I agree the tiara looks very good on HM the Queen . However it looked equally magnificent on QM11 in her first portrait's after her accession .

Does anyone knows about the bracelets worn by queen Mary in the Norwegian state banquet, she seems to be wearing 3 two of them seems to be in diamonds while the third looks to be diamonds and pearls

They're all diamonds, and I believe they're her personal property.

I won't lie and say I'm not a little disappointed she's not hauling out the big guns for her first state visit, but I also kind of suspected she'd wear the rubies in Sweden considering that's where they originated from.

Frederik and Mary's 20th anniversary is the gala dinner for the Norwegian state visit, so let's hope we get the pearls in a couple of weeks!
I have to admit it is a little awkward navigating what is an and is not the personal property of Queen Margrethe or the Family Trust. Problems like this only occur in the case of the Abdication of the Regnant rather than the death.
Sad she changed the ruby historical parure,
She is not the first to alter this Parure, just one of a continuing line. As is seen from the moans of disappointment at it's no-brainer appearance in Sweden, that such a visually stunning full parure can be deemed almost pedestrian.

It's not awkward at all. It was mentioned around the time of the abdication what jewels were Margrethe's personal property and what would be now available for Mary to wear. Queen Alexandrine's sapphires, the Golden Poppy tiara, the daisy brooch, and some other bits and bobs were given to Margrethe as gifts throughout her life, so they're her property.

Everything else is for Mary's use, either as personal property (her wedding tiara, the necklace tiara), the crown jewels (the Emerald parure et al), or the Family Trust (the Pearl Poire parure et al). The ruby parure was willed to Frederik by Queen Ingrid, so it's his property that he in turn gave to Mary.

But still not the matching necklace. And I findet it worn too much backwards.
I too wish she had worn the full parure instead of the riviere and earrings of the antique diamond parure.

Queen Ingrid also often wore the Pearl Poire Tiara with crown diamond jewels instead of the full pearl parure… It is Queen Margrethe who has made us so used to see the full pearl parure in all its glory…

We know since early on that Mary is a big fan of gowns with necklines that does not allow for big necklace’s to be worn… I expect that to continue in the future but i hope she at least for incoming state visits from other monarchies won’t be afraid to use the big parures…

Is it just the crown emeralds that can't be taken out of Denmark or would Mary's necklace and earrings tonight also fall into that category.

I think Mary just doesn't want to look like a Christmas tree, which Queen Margrethe and also Queen Ingrid often did.

All crown jewels (necklace and earrings do not fall into that category) can only be worn in Dk. I had hoped for a tiara which she can only wear in Dk.

The diamond antique parure can be taken abroad. Here's Daisy wearing it in UK and Sweden respectively

The Crown Jewels (the emeralds, the brilliant-cut diamond set, the pearl-ruby set and the rose-cut diamond set) can not be taken abroad.

The only tiara which can only be worn in Denmark is the emerald tiara. The others Sets from the Crown jewels don't include a tiara.
