Princess Alexandra of Hannover Current Events Part 7: January 2017 -

It reminds one how little Caroline is that Alex can wear her coat without it being huge on her. It fits very well. Then again, it may have been altered for her.

Caroline has remained svelte so probably little alteration required given that Alexandra is now a young woman.

Pretty coat indeed. Mother and daughter the booth look great wearing it.

.

Princess Alexandra and boyfriend Ben-Silvester Strautmann watched the French First League soccer match between Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco in Paris yesterday, April 15. Monaco lost with 7:1.

Gareth Wittstock was present with wife Roisin too.

What is Alexandra doing now ? She seems permanently in Monaco. Is she studying somewhere ? Or she took a gap year.

According to Colonel Luc Fringant, who has just retired after thirty years of service with the Princely family of Monaco, Princess Alexandra of Hannover has converted from Lutheranism to Roman Catholicism:

Royal Musings: Alexandra of Hanover loses place in British succession

From a family standpoint switching denominations makes sense. However, I wonder whether there is a translation issue in the royal musings article as it talks about being baptized in the Catholic faith. As the Roman Catholic church recognizes Lutheran baptism, I don't think her introduction into the Roman Catholic church included a baptism.

Maybe it was a confirmation in the Roman Catholic Church, and the Colonel was the witness.

That's what makes sense to me. That would also be the time of her first communion.

Right, since the Lutheran Church baptizes using the Trinitarian formula all the princess would have needed to do was to make a formal Profession of Faith to a Catholic bishop or priest.

I have two questions...how does Alexandra's choice affect her inheritance rights in the House of Hanover?

And why did she do it...she must know that her father will probably be very disappointed.

I thought "papists" are no longer excluded from the British succession?

She's out of the line of (British) Succession becoming Catholic bars her from the throne....I don't think William could become King if he became Catholic.

No idea what the Hanover's think..but they don't still have a throne anyway right?

Good for Princess Alexandra. To wipe her royal derrière with that blatanty anti-Catholic piece of legislation - of a West-European country - anno 2018.

No throne for the Hanovers but I seem to recall hearing that they had lots and lots of property, if not liquid cash.

The first thought that enters my mind is that on National Day, she can now receive the Eucharist with the rest of the Grimaldi/Casiraghi/de Massy, instead of being passed by.

The British Monarch is head of the Anglican Church it's hardly surprising. You wouldn't have a Protestant Pope.

Right they still have money/property etc. Just not a ruling family.

Will be interesting to see if she is there on National Day.

For a while now it has appeared that Alexandra is more Grimaldi than Hanover. She not only spends more time in Monaco with her maternal family, I cannot remember even seeing her with Ernst-August since she became a young adult.

I always thought that E-A very much wanted a daughter so this is surprising and sad...unless his rumored disease has impacted and damaged the relationship(which often happens).

She looks more Hanoverian and is close to her half brothers E-A Jr and Christian, but the link with her paternal side seems to end there.

Life with an addicted family member is hard. I cannot imagine what it's like when it's your parent. I'm sure Caroline and all of her siblings have been a tremendous support in her relationship with her father. After all, she's the youngest.

For me it looks like a symbolic end and final break to the father's side. Since her parents have been estranged I never ever saw Alexandra spending time with her dad. If course we can say that it does not mean anything but I don't believe that prince Ernst managed to fully hide any moments spent with his daughter. For these type of celebrities it is impossible to completely escape from papz. We saw Alexandra spending time with her entire family except with her dad.

I never thought of Princess Alexandra being that religious but I don't think in 2016 its really a big deal even for the Royal Houses of Europe. I firmly believes ones religion is a private matter.

I wonder if there will be a meeting with the Pope?

I agree. Alexandra has always seemed closer to her mother than her father, though she still seems to socialise with her Hanoverian half-brothers (and I'm sure I've seen photos of Caroline with them on occasions too). I agree with Moonmaiden too in that she seems to definitley be more of a part of the Monegasque family than the Hanoverian family.

She may have done it some time ago. It makes sense that when others in the Lutheran church would have been confirmed she most likely wasn't as she probably hasn't attended a Lutheran church for a long time (unless her Hannover-brothers take her to church when she is with them - but one of them married a Catholic, so not a staunch Lutheran either). So, at some point she apparently decided that it would make more sense to be confirmed in the church she at least visits once in a while with the rest of her family.

Given the lives of the Monegasque family few of them seem to take the church's teachings seriously. Nonetheless, as long as they formally are Roman Catholics the Pope and bisshops will happily receive them.

Since Princess Alexandra of Hanover has recently been received in the Catholic Church,
she has lost her succession rights to the British throne, as Catholics are still barred from succeeding.

Yes, I think the change was made for those who marry a Catholic

She was so, so, soooooo faaaaar in this line of succession that I highly doubt she cared for it.;):flowers::lol:

Princess Alexandra of Hanover has been removed from the British line of succession according to Point de Vue-magazine.

The 19-year-old princess is the daughter of Prince Ernst August of Hanover and Princess Caroline of Monaco. The Princess has recently become a member of the Catholic Church and this the reason why she has been removed from the British line of succession. However, she remains the 12th in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne.

I am sure she doesn't care!

For years I couldn't believe that princess Caroline baptized her daughter in the Lutheran church. For what? For her daughter being in the line to the British throne? What a nonsense!
