I hope she wears whatever kind of wedding dress she wants be it sleek or frou-frou. And saying if she wears frou frou it must be because some one convinced her too, is ridiculous.
If Meghan wears a dress that any of us dislike, it'll be because she liked it and she does not have to like or dislike things that people on this website seem to think she must or must not like.

:previous:I agree. Meghan may go structured and sleek or she may surprise everyone and go ethereal or embellished or some other direction. Wedding dresses are one place many women veer off from their everyday style.

Obviously, quite a few of those are not MM's usual style. Just wanted to add a few to cater for those curveballs, especially since she has previously mentioned liking whimsical gowns and there's speculation about lace being used in the dress. :flowers:

I personally favor dresses that suit the bride---so in context, Sophie, Kate, Queen Margethe, and even Diana hit it out of the park for me. Memorable, lovely appearances by these ladies.

As to style alone, my most recent favorite was Victoria because it was such a perfect complement to that honking huge cameo tiara  which, against all odds, she looked so beautiful in.

So, I hereby throw my lot in with those here who see a streamlined, perhaps with a 30's feel dress and a perhaps quick nod to Carolyn Bessette in its heritage BUT something designed to suit this modern bride.

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS....:D

That's a nice selection, EloisevonLippe, thanks for posting those! I like almost all of the gowns in the first group, with the exception of the first gown, which looks to me like someone grabbed the curtains out of the drawing room on the way to the church. Some of that group have been posted here before, and I could easily see Meghan wearing any of those, possibly with some modifications.

The second group also has some gorgeous gowns, and I can see all of them as possibilities to one extent or another, but the third group seems a bit "out there."

I'm going to go back through the list and see if I can pick out any favorites.

I could see this more for the reception?

I love Lazaro gowns, btw. The new collection is magical.

Me too...Lazaro and Romona K.

Do you remember that Lazaro from a few seasons ago ...high empire waist and the big tulle skirt? It was so flattering for almost any woman even those who are curvy. I still love that one.

LaRae

I can see a few of them from Eloise's post that would have possibilities with alteration...many of them similar shape/style to what most of us have posted:

I like these two--currently I'm thinking a little ethereal and floaty--we'll see soon what she's picked.

I didn't really like any in the middle group of dresses in the original post--I feel like a number of them were too much dress for Meghan's frame.

Why is Meghan showing her wedding dress to the Queen?

Why is Meghan showing her wedding dress to the Queen?

The better question is how did an American news source get the scoop when no British source is reporting this.

Certainly not because they made it up.

According to the article I posted - it's what's done. Apparently Kate did the same?

I don’t recall the British media reporting Kate showing the Queen her wedding dress in 2011.

It doesn’t make any sense to me to show her beforehand

Scobie tweeted about it yesterday.

And ICYMI on @GMA:
Sources confirm that Meghan’s wedding dress is finished and safely hidden at Windsor Castle until the big day.
Just one person left to see it - the Queen. Meghan will privately show the gown to HM later this week (just like Kate did before she married William).

Why is Meghan showing her wedding dress to the Queen?

Probably a sign of respect to the Monarch. Or...so the Queen can decide which tiara she will lend to Meghan, if one hasn’t been purchased privately for her.

Scobie is just tweeting that GMA is reporting it.

The Express article is citing Emily Andrews’ interview, which is likely the origin of the story. But... Emily Andrews works for the Sun so I’d take this story with a massive grain of salt. It doesn’t add up - Meghan needs the Queen to approve of her dress, but the approval isn’t happening until less than 2 weeks before the wedding, when it’s kind of to late to do anything about it.

I think that’s a lovely thing to do. I’m sure Meghan’s mother has seen it. So why not her husband to be grandmother

:previous: Since she's storing the wedding dress why not. Not only that but who says HM isn't just plain prone to fangirling over the wedding dress just like Meghan and her mother and the vast majority of all us here.

Another thought is that appropriate jewellery could be tried. Just think, jewellery chosen before the dress was made might not actually suit the dress or the hairstyle. And yes, I can see our queen, HM QEII as excited and happy as the rest of them.

I can imagine the Queen getting a preview of the dress, but not for the purpose of giving her approval.

I've never heard of the Queen having to approve a wedding dress before and in any event it would be done on initial sketches rather than the finished design.

Its Windsor Horse Show Week, isn't it. If the Queen's doing any fangirling, it will be over that!

When a dress is specially designed for an occasion, as it most likely is in Meghan's case, the dress is designed to match the jewellery, as well as the hairstyle and the bouquet. These kind of weddings do not certainly allow for last minute (10 days is practically last minute) arrangements or changings, unless something really serious happens.

Scobie said it. He is a royal contributor for GMA.

Highly doubt everything Meghan will wear on her wedding day hadn't been planned out already. She could just show the Queen the dress like you do with family members, and for no official reasons like getting her approval 10 days out.

I doubt the dress is designed to match everything else. More likely, they came up with the design she wanted, and as they worked on it, other things are considered to match the dress.

The Queen would of seen the dress sketches to 'approve' them. That there is a tradition of the Queen seeing the dress before the wedding.

I think Meghan is a very enjoyable royal wedding dress. Because Meghan has a very tasteful clothing style.
