As you a new portrait of Frederik was unveiled recently. The painting commissioned by the National Historic Museum at Frederiksborg, has already been dubbed The Bond Painting here in DK.
The dry Martini, the dapper dress and cool attitude is no coincidence according to the artist, Kasper Eistrup.
Officially the painting is named Lancier.
Kasper Eistrup is also a member of the band Kashmir, which Frederik is very fond of! As such the two of them have gotten to know each other fairly loosely that way.
Kasper Eistrup who only fairly recently has taken up painting in earnest was pretty surprised that that he had been selected to paint a new portrait of Frederik.
Kasper Eistrup wanted to paint a portrait that was more than just a future king. The painting is as such also about a person in balance and a man who is perhaps peaking as an individual, husband, father and leading member of the DRF.
The similarity with James Bond is no accident. Kasper Eistrup believe Frederik has the same charm and extroversion (is that correct? Extroversion for someone who is extrovert.) as the secret agent.
In his speech at the unveiling Frederik emphasized that he had been very comfortable with both the artist and with being painted.
At the same time he was perfectly well aware that the interaction and conversation he had with artist during the process would be a part of what the artist depicted in the painting. I.e. capturing the impression on the personality of the subject.
He also told how he as a boy wasn't that keen about being portrayed, that was tedious and boring! But today he likes it and find it's fun.
