At the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia on Thursday evening, Queen Sofia of Spain attended a performance of the Giuseppe Verdi opera La Traviata. The Queen posed for photos on the red carpet with fashion designer Valentino Garavani, who designed the costumes of the opera, actress Monica Bellucci, and tenor Plácido Domingo. Queen Letizia celebrated her 44th birthday today, and during an evening at the Royal Theatre for the opening performance of the season, the orchestra performed a rendition of ‘Feliz Cumpleaños’ for the birthday girl. Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands yesterday attended the premiere of the opera ‘Granida’ in the Stadschouwburg on the Leidse square in Amsterdam. The queen was welcomed by Job Cohen, mayor of Amsterdam. The opera is based on a theater play of P.C. Hooft (1581 – 1647), a playright from the Dutch golden age.
