Dutch King and Queen Host Lunch for Austrian President
Today, Wednesday November 14, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima received the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, and his wife Doris Schmidauer.
The President and First Lady were officially welcomed with a welcoming ceremony held in the courtyard of the Palace Noordeinde in The Hague. The King and the President inspected a guard of honour and the national anthems were played.
Inside the palace took place a private audience and then the Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple posed for the official photograph. Afterwards took place a luncheon hosted by the King and Queen.
The King in his speech stated that Austria “is making concrete work of strengthening the international legal order, including as a participant in various peace operations together with the Netherlands” and also that “We are also fortunate in having a close partner in Austria who is at the top in many areas of economics and society”.
