British royals attend Remembrance Day services

On November 11; it had been a hundred years since the end of the First World War, which was marked with a service at the Cenotaph and at Westminster Abbey in London where the royal family were present.

The Queen, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal and Tim Lawrence, the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were in attendance at both events. The Duke of Edinburgh was absent as he officially retired from public duties last year at the age of 96.

British Prime Minister Theresa May as well as German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbende were also invited to the event, as a historic act of reconciliation between Germany and the United Kingdom.

The Prince of Wales read an extract from the Bible at the Westminster Abbey service after he had laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier.
