Swedish Royals Attend Funeral of Late Mistress of the Robes
The funeral service of Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Trolle Ljungby Church in Skåne. The late Countess died on June 26 at the age of 91.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine all attended the service alongside the late Countess’s family. From Denmark came Princess Benedikte. They were warmly greeted by the late Countess’s husband, Count Hans-Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister, as they arrived.
Countess Alice served as Mistress of the Robes from 1994 to 2015, during which time she was the highest ranking non-royal female in Sweden. She was previously a Statsfrau from 1974 to 1993.
