The correspondence of Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands and her English governess Elizabeth Saxton-Winter (1855-1935) has been collected in a new book: ‘Darling Queen-Dear Old Bones’. A Dutch edition was published in 2012 but today at Het Loo Palace, the English edition of the book will be handed to the mayor of Apeldoorn. It was announced Monday that Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister, the former Mistress of the Robes of the Swedish Royal Court, has passed away at her home in Skåne, Trolle-Ljungby Castle. The Cheffins auction house in Cambridgeshire has sold six letters handwritten by Diana, Princess of Wales in an auction lot full of royal memorabilia, for over five times the estimate. Coming from the estate of Cyril Dickman, who was chief palace steward and worked for the Royal Family for over 50 years beginning during World War Two, the letters fetched £15,100, well above the estimated £2,300-£3,600.
