Crown Prince Frederik yesterday paid a visit to the Helse School in Svendborg, 190km south-west of Copenhagen. The visit was part of the municipality being awarded the ‘The Year’s Sports Community’ for 2008.

At the school, Frederik was shown various sporting activities that the school has implemented to improve the health and physical activity of its pupils. The school participates in a research project, where the students do around five-six hours of physical activity a week, which examines the link between physical activity and health in children.

One youngster, eight-year-old Asger Bergholdt Sørensen, was not even aware that the Crown Prince was watching on while he balanced on a balance beam.

The Crown Prince took part in some of the activites the school had set up, and appeared to enjoy his time at the school, laughing and joking with the students.

In other Frederik news, it was confirmed by the Premier of New South Wales, Nathan Rees, that the Crown Prince will be in Sydney to compete in Sydney 2009 World Masters Games. According to the press release, Frederik will attend the opening ceremony on October 11th, and will then partner Chris Meehan in the 35+ Tasar Sailing competition between October 13th and 16th. While some reports suggest that Crown Princess Mary and the couple’s two children will accompany Frederik to Sydney, nothing has been confirmed about their attendance.
