Prince Harry Launches 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto

Prince Harry has made the journey to North America for this year’s Invictus Games in Orlando, Florida but first he paid a visit to Canada to launch the 2017 edition of the Games which will take place in Toronto.

The Prince had an audience with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau yesterday to discuss plans for the Games, with the Prime Minister telling the press group that the Games are “an opportunity for us to recognise the extraordinary service, the extraordinary strength and resilience of those who choose to serve their country.”

He also praised Harry’s work on bringing the Games together calling it an “extraordinary worthy initiative.”

The pair then attended a reception with members of the Canadian Invictus Games for this year, with both men’s attention completely captured as they listened to the emotional stories of the wounded servicemen and women.

Prince Harry also delivered a speech in which he said that he “can’t wait to see Canada embrace the games & rise to the challenge of telling Chapter 3 of the Invictus story” after mentioning how the support of the public will “create a life changing atmosphere for competitors”, particularly the Canadian team as next year the country celebrates its 150th anniversary.

Later on in the day, Prince Harry and Prime Minister Trudeau attended a match of sledge hockey to officially confirm the sport will be added to the Invictus Games schedule in 2017. Harry dropped the first puck of the game, before taking a seat on the sidelines with Trudeau – where the two proved very enthusiastic about what was taking place in front of them.
