The celebrations for the Queen of Denmark’s 75th birthday have been confirmed by the Royal Court.

Queen Margrethe’s birthday will be celebrated over two main days in April, with a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace on April 15. On the Queen’s actual birthday – April 16 – she and her immediate family will appear on the balcony of Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg, as they do each year.

A reception and lunch at the Town Hall will take place afterwards, with another gala dinner at Fredensborg Palace in the evening.

Two events will take place outside of the main celebrations: an exhibition entitled “Her Majesty the Queen: 75 Years – A Costume Cavalcade” at Frederiksborg Palace will be opened on March 25, and a gala performance at the Aarhus Concert Hall on April 8.

The gala performance will be aired live on TV2, with the royal family and other official guests in attendance. TV2 reported that it is possible that foreign royals close to the Queen will be invited to the performance. Foreign dignitaries will also most likely attend the main festivities in April.
