Belgian Introductory Visit to France

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid an introductory visit to France on Thursday February 6th.

The Royal Couple arrived in Paris by high speed train around noon, accompanied by Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders. Upon arrival in the French capital, the King and the Queen went near Pont de la Concorde where is situated an equestrian monument in memory of King Albert I, to lay a wreath.

Then, along with the Ministers, the Royal Couple went to the Elysee Palace. In the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were greeted by the French President François Hollande. After posing for a series of photos, took place a lunch held in honor of the King and the Queen of Belgium.

In the afternoon the Royal Couple visited the French National Assembly where they were received by Claude Bartolone, the President of the Chamber. The King and the Queen signed the Golden Book.

Before leaving for Brussels, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended a reception in their honor at the Belgian Ambassy in Paris, held in the residence of the Belgian Ambassador Patrick Vercauteren Drubbel. Were present Belgian personalities known in Paris in the world of business and culture.
