The Duchess of Sussex's Maternity Fashion: October 2018 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I love the look. The dress is very beautiful and divine print.

She is very overdressed to the event, IMO.
But I have to be kind and say I do like this outfit (minus the hair and the rings besides her wedding and engagement bands) and it looks like it fits her well!
Do I understand correctly all of the items this time are from British designers?
If I were a believer in god i’d Say praise the lord, but i’m mot so.

That being said, I kept scratching my head thinking “why does her dress look so familiar”(besides the large flowers which is currently trendy- and was done beautifully by the countess of Wessex a week ago and today to a degree); I found my answer at the Princess Royal fashion thread- her dress looks like the cover of a loveseat! Which makes this dress a very bad choice to this specific occasion in that specific location!

I think my Grandma owned a sofa with that same embroidery detail.

It is never a good idea to match the furniture!

Meghan looks nicely dressed for the occasion but I have to agree with not matching the furniture. I've never been a fan of brocade or any kind of shiny fabrics so that's just my taste speaking.

Her style attending the WE Day UK event probably matched what a lot of women were wearing. It was a nice casual look.

Overdressed, underdressed. She is new at this. This casual outfit could have been a lot better. Not a fan of blue and black. The slacks don't look great.

Almost 18 months on the job, 9 of it officially... she is no longer “new at this”. Hack even 9 months is no longer “new”.
I keep on saying: she’s 37 years old (supposedly astute and world savvy and kind and smart), it’s long overdue for her to grow up and get a stylist who can help her dress for the occasion of her new job and life. This is another example of how ill fitting Jessica is as her stylist now.

Any smart and fashion savvy woman who enters a new job in an industry she never worked at before, and has access to the funds Meghan obviously does, would have hired a stylist who understands the industry.

People need to realize that Meghan is not going to play dress up like Kate. Nor is she expected to. Nothing she has worn has been inappropriate for the event she has attended. None. You may disagree with needing more color or not liking she wears pants, but nothing wrong with anything she wore.

Its not just people seem to think she should be dressed as a proper English rose aristocrat. It seems people think she has to be dressed as a early 20th century aristocrat to be 'appropriate'.

I for one am happy she takes pages from other royal women her age. Like Victoria or slightly older like Letizia and Mary. Nothing she has worn would have looked out of place on any of these women.

Both Meghan and Jessica know how to dress her for her role.Unfortunately some people will just not move into the 21st century.

Loved both looks. Her dress doesn't look like she's overdressed. And the jacket is beautiful!

Pregnancy certainly suits Meghan :flowers:

I agree with you on all counts, she is much older and been working much longer than a lot of previous new royals

There have been a some of Meghan's outfits that I haven't liked (some because of personal preferences) but I don't think anything she has worn has actually been inappropriate nor does it seem to me that she needs guidance to steer her in the right direction.
As far as her outfit being casual at the WE Day, I think when she chose her outfit it was as an attendee--and was fine.

I agree...there've been some I haven't cared for ...but nothing has been inappropriate.

So far she has only worn outfits that fitted her and were appropriate.

The dress looks a wee bit short if Meghan has to do any bending or stretching. Hopefully she won't. I like the pattern, very Springlike, and the blazer.

I usually love a black and white combo, but the print on this one is overwhelming, and the length is definitely on the short side in terms of proportion. The jacket is nice, though.

The only pictures of her IWD outfit I've seen so far is the ones of her arriving. To me, it states that's she means business and is dressed businesslike for the day's events. Its an outfit that could be seen worn by women in offices all over the world on a working, pregnant mum.

My only complaint about today's outfit is that it's way too short. Since the length at the front and back line up, I don't think it was the typical Reiss dress, and that she had one altered to fit her pregnancy. But yes, Way too short IMO.

Agreed.

I like her black and white print dress today. Pretty and flattering.

What I really like though is her hair. Her up do really suits her. It’s not too severe either.

The dress is way too short. It seems a trend, I remember thinking the same thing during at least one of Kate's pregnancies. The only time I could say that.

Length aside she looks fantastic. I love the print and style of the dress :flowers:

The coat breaks up the busy print and gives it a business look for the day ?

All British designers except for her shoes

-dress is Reiss
-jacket is Alexander McQueen
-purse is Stella McCartney
-shoes are Manolo Blanik

She looks wonderful & this outfit is gorgeous. Probably not the best length for sitting on a stage - too much bare thigh on show for the event.

Eh, not my favourite look(all British though - shoes are old).

However, is that a brooch I am seeing? :) That's a first for Meghan, isn't?

She is, it looks like a crown surrounded by feathers. I don’t know if it’s somehow connected to the QCT.

I don't trust my eyesight too much when it comes to spotting small details in photos but I'm wondering if the "brooch" that Meghan was wearing is perhaps the same as the button on the lapel that Harry wore the other day making his speech?

On International Women's Day she has shown that she has a right to show her legs, that she is not a little royal wife and I appreciate it very much. Great! :D

BTW, I love her entire outfit!

I like this outfit and think she looks great. (..)
