King Abdullah made his remarks during the annual Iftar ceremony of the Jordan Press Association at the King Hussein Convention Center in the Dead Sea today, where about 500 journalists were present.

Is the Umrah of equal importance to the Hadj which takes place over the next 3 months after Ramadaan? I thought it was a spiritual holiday. Just asking.

Sorry this is abit off topic, but just to answer the question that was asked
Umrah & haj are just as important as the other, they both have to be carried out at least once if you can afford.

With Haj, a muslim has more to do than umrah. Its a longer process.

Wikipedia has a very good article on what is haj & what is required etc found here & you can find more about umrah here

Actually that's incorrect.

Umrah is not mandatory, Hajj is the only mandatory pilgrimage for every muslim man, woman and child.
