The state visit, as far as I know, is scheduled for April. Let's see how the Queen's surgery goes.

As Queen Margrethe will be undergoing an extensive surgery of her back in 2 weeks, and is expected to be on a longer period of sick leave for rehabilitation after that - i would guess that any outgoing/incoming danish State visits is postponed ”until later”

We don't know how long the Queen will have to recover. It's still too early for speculation. I hope that the state visit can take place.

State visit of Spain to Denmark:
According to sources close to Royal House, they assure Monarquía Confidencial that the visit would be scheduled for the penultimate week of March.
It is not yet known whether the visit will be postponed.

The visit could still proceed....Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have been the de-facto hosts of state visits for years and do all the heavy lifting anyway of the program. And QMII usually sits to greet guests anyway and she can just be seated at the table beforehand instead of walking in and just have Frederik take the lead there with Mary. Like I said, the heavy part of the the state visit is handled by Frederik and Mary anyway.

Norway has hosted state visits recently. Denmark is lagging behind all other RFs right now in incoming state visits (last one being 2018 IIRC) and last outgoing one was in 2021. Every other royal family has stepped it up with incoming/outgoing state visits. It is Denmark's turn. Besides that means lots of Frederik and Mary!!

Usually Sovereigns bring State Visits to other Sovereigns, with some eye to anciennity: so first to Queen Elizabeth, then to Queen Margrethe, to King Carl XVI Gustaf, to King Harald, to King Abdullah, to King Mohammed, to Grand-Duke Henri, to King Willem-Alexander, to King Philippe, to Emperor Naruhito.
Of course political and economic considerations, or neighbourship to another monarchy, or lagging schedules due to Covid can make Sovereigns to go off the usual track.

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will make his first state visit as Colombian head of state to Spain on Wednesday, May 3. The decision was made after the president accepted the invitation of King Felipe VI and the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez.

Haakon hosted a state visits from Portugal in 2004 and the japanese imperial couple in 2005, when King Harald was on sick leave, they could do the same in Denmark.

I guess everything is possible and indeed, it is Frederik and Mary who does by far most of the work nowdays
But knowing QMII, i do not expect her to hand over the State Visits completely as well. It is after all to her the incoming visit is and not to Frederik, even if she usually only welcomes/bid farewell of the guests now and hosts lunch and dinner, while Frederik and Mary escorts the guests during the program.

I think that the Visit could be scheduled between April-June or September-November.

Well, she may have to make some tough decisions in that regard and let go of control/reigns if DK wants to keep up with the rest of the royal families that are on a roll doing incoming/outgoing state visits. The last incoming state visit to DK was France in 2018. M&F did the return visit as an official one in 2019. Denmark is quite behind in doing any incoming state visits. I find it hard to believe that DK has not received and/or extended invitations for states visits in all these years.
And saying QEII didn't do state visits for years I know if the standard response....yet now an advanced in age Charles is playing catch-up in that area IMO. And DK is quite smaller than the UK. DK is trying to be at the forefront of alot of technology and knowledge in the green sector, wind energy, etc and well that involves doing these types of trips and hosting them as well. And like many have said, M&F already do all the important heavy lifting of these visits. Maybe some exceptions need to start being considered/debated.
I am sure I will get push-back for my opinion - but it is what it is.

Abdications make an interesting discussion. However, this is a thread about future state visits of the Spanish RF.
Those who want to continue their views on abdications are welcome to do so in this thread in the General Discussion forum.

There will still incoming State Visits to the UK after QEII had stopped making State Visits abroad, the last one being the one from the US in 2019. The stopped only because of the Pandemic.
