I just saw an adorable picture on Instagram of the King with his godson, Prince Vincent!
Could someone please repost it?

Queen Margrete refused Queen letizia second kiss. That should be said in advance !

Just checked in to see what Mary was wwearing. Interesting she is not wearing the ruby set. Huh.:whistling: You'd think if there was ever a reason to wear it, it would be a state dinner. :whistling: :whistling:

Queen Letizia is wearing the Fleur de Lys tiara (as expected) and Queen Margrethe is wearing her Emerald Parure and the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

Obviously the big bad QMII has forbidden it and Mary has no agency or say in what jewels of hers she is allowed to wear. :whistling: The Queen of Spain seems to wearing new to me earrings and lower brooch. I'll await the close ups for a better look. La Buena looks magnificent as ever.

Actually she usually does not wear if for State Banquets. One exception was at the belgian State Vist, but i guess it was because the rubies matched with the belgian Order she got.

I noticed two of the guests wearing lovely tiaras, a floral tiara on a lady with a black/white gown and a tiara on a lady with a pink floral gown. Does anyone know anything about these ladies or their tiaras?

It looks like big diamond and sapphire earrings. I believe Letizia wore them before, but I am sure the jewelry experts here will clarify.

She did the same when Queen Mathilde attempted a second kiss. I guess she believes one is enough.

They arrive in Denmark where they are received by Queen Margrethe II, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and Princess Benedikte.

The photos are a bit distorting. The hand kisses of King Felipe were really fast and the courtsies of Princess Mary too.

I must say, I have a profound dislike for these "over the edge" courtsies, which are probably a Danish speciality.

She wore it for the French State visit as well. Mary is confident enough to wear whatever she finds suitable without spreading the big guns for the sake of it.

It's called elegance.

Frederick and Letizia seem to have a very fun and lovely rapport. They are very chatty in the line up.

It seems that many non-royal ladies are wearing their personal tiaras at the banquet. Is that common in Denmark?

I think in Denmark if you have a tiara you wear it if you are invited to such an occasion.

Technically that is the rule everywhere, if the event calls for tiaras, and one possesses one, one can wear one.

I'm curious to read the translations of both speeches. The King of Spain seemed to touch on current events in the world as well as on many personal connections between the families.

The dress code is the same for all guests. If it says 'tiaras may be worn', every lady who has access to a tiara can wear it.

It seems that the ladies of the court, the Queen’s ladies in waiting are wearing a new uniform.
About 4 ladies were wearing a red/burgundy dresses came in a row and greeted the royals but the first one gloves stuck in one of the Queen’s rings.

These are not the large sapphire and diamond earrings Letizia wore in London. This is a pair previously used by Queen Sofia.

They are wearing that burgundy lace gowns since years if not decades.

Letizia has delivered one of the worst looks I've ever seen at a State Banquet, I also can't understand why Mary isn't wearing her Ruby Parure.

I'm livid. At least my QMII is wearing her Emeralds for a change.

The Queen is blinged out and looks like a Queen! She along with her sister are best dressed!

After the Swedish court reintroduced the court dress in 1988 both the Danish and Norwegian courts introduced court dresses for their ladies-in-waiting. The Danish ladies-in-waiting have worn court dresses since around the time of the Queen & Prince Henrik's silver wedding celebrations during the summer of 1992. They are designed by the Queen herself and were slightly redesigned a few years ago.

The Norwegian ladies-in-waiting wore their dark blue Balmain designed court dresses for the first time at the new King and Queen's benediction ceremony in the Nidaros cathedral on January 23 in 1991.

I'm totally with you on Letizia tonight, she looks terrible. It just goes to show that it's not about the clothes or jewels at the end of the day, it's how everything is put together. We often talk about the lack of bling in the Belgian royal family yet the Duchess of Brabant, with her small Wolfers tiara and very little else jewellery wise, looked amazing at Prince Christian's birthday party in comparison to the Spanish Queen who, despite her huge tiara and massive earrings, was a "hot mess" to use an American term.

I did expect Mary to wear her ruby parure, however she did look fabulous! It seems that this particular tiara is her favorite! That gown is to die for!

I just can't stand that green gown on QMII. Yuck!

Letizia ... the tiara is just too "heavy" for a sleeveless gown. I did expect more from her and am disappointed. She definitely dressed for the occasion when they paid their state visit to England w/QEII. She missed the mark this time.

Sigh!
