King Philippe and Queen Mathilde Open the “Europalia” Cultural Festival

Today, Thursday October 14, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were present at the official opening of the 28th edition of the cultural festival “Europalia” at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels.
Europalia is an international arts festival held every two years that “aims to promote intercultural and intergenerational exchanges as well as research, reflection and creation”. This year’s festival is called: “Europalia Trains & Tracks” and it is dedicated to trains.
The Royal Couple opened the exhibition ““Europalia Trains & Tracks, Ways of Modernity” that is focused on the huge impact of trains on society. In the exhibition are presents works of artists such as Monet, Severini, de Chirico and Mondrian and there is also a model representing the first train that linked Brussels to Mechelen in 1835.
The exhibition will be opened to the public from October 15, 2021 to May 15, 2022.
