British royals attend Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church

As per annual tradition, the Queen and several members of her family attended the Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in the Sandringham Estate, Norfolk.

The Queen attended on her own this year, as her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, is currently recovering from an illness after being released from hospital the day before. Also attending were the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of York and their partners, the Princess Royal and Tim Laurence, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their two children Lady Louise and Viscount Severn and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the service from the Queen’s immediate family. The Duke of York attended the 9am service on his own after the recent Epstein scandal.

From the extended family, Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband Dan and two sons Samuel and Arthur were in attendance, as were her brother, the Earl Snowdon and his wife Serena and their two children Charles and Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s two children; Prince George and Princess Charlotte, also made their Sandringham debut this year, with cheeky Princess Charlotte stealing the show as she was gifted a pink flamingo and a posey of flowers from well-wishers. The four year-old also stopped to hug a woman in a wheelchair in the crowds.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their baby son Archie were also absent this year as they are spending Christmas in Canada. Zara Tindall and her family were absent as well, since they were spending Christmas in Australia, whilst their cousins; Peter Phillips and his family, were also not in attendance.
