The Duke of Goalie? Prince William Hosts Reception For The Lionesses
Prince William hosted the English Women’s Football Team, the Lionesses, at Kensington Palace on Thursday ahead of their participation in the UEFA Women’s Championship that begins this weekend in The Netherlands.
In the Palace gardens after the official proceedings, William and the Lionesses took part in some goal shooting with young girls from the Wildcats Girls’ Football programme, designed to inspire girls to take up the sport. William had a turn as both striker and keeper, even scoring a goal against midfielder Jill Scott.
The Duke told the players he was trying to teach Prince George, four next week, how to play football, and the young Prince is enjoying the sport but “doesn’t really like it when he’s palming him off and getting physical.”
