King Philippe and Queen Mathilde Visit East Flanders

Today, Tuesday April 25, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Province of East Flanders.

The fist stop was at the Wissekerke Castle, situated in the municipality of Kruibeke. Accompanied by the Governor of East Flanders, Jan Briers, and the Mayor of Kruibeke, Jos Stassen, the Royal Couple toured the castle where they signed the Golden Book and then visited the polders of Kruibeke, the largest controlled flood area of Flanders.

Afterwards the King and the Queen visited the company Wase Workshop in the municipality of Temse. The company provides jobs to people with learning difficulties or disabilities. One of the factories of Wase Workshop produces Nutella.

Then the Royal Couple visited Fedasil, a federal agency for minor asylum seekers. The King and Queen had a chance to meet with young asylum seekers.

The visit ended with a reception at the Town Hall of Dendermonde held by the Mayor Piet Buyse where the Royal Couple signed the Golden Book.
