Each November, the British Royal Legion hosts a Festival of Remembrance performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London to ‘commemorate all those who have lost their lives in conflicts’.

Queen Elizabeth II was joined by a number of members of the Royal Family for the evening performance, which featured the Royal Air Force Squadronaires and the Band of HM Royal Marines, and to mark the 100th anniversary, a presentation on the Battle of the Somme.

The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall (fresh from their Middle East tour), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke of York, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra of Kent were all present; each wearing poppies and the men regimental ties.
