Flashback Friday: Royal Princesses In Uniform

Two and half months after war was declared in July 1914, German Crown Princess Cecilie and her sister-in-law Princess Viktoria Luise pose with their horses wearing military uniforms.

The Crown Princess is wearing a Dragoons uniform, as the regimental commander of the Dragoon Regiment ‘König Friedrich III’ (2nd Silesian) Nr 8. Princess Viktoria Luise is in the Death’s Head Hussar uniform, as the regimental commander of the 2nd Hussars Regiment ‘Königin Viktoria von Preußen’ Nr 2.
