The Honourable Alexandra Knatchbull married Thomas Hooper today in a beautiful summer wedding at Romsey Abbey. Alexandra is the daughter of Lord and Lady Brabourne and the great-granddaughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Alexandra was Diana, Princess of Wales’ goddaughter but it was The Prince of Wales, who is godfather to her brother Nicholas, that walked her down the aisle today. Lord Brabourne has some ongoing health issues.

The little sleepy village of Romsey in Hampshire was awash with royals this afternoon. Among the guests were the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal, Princess Alexandra, Lady Oglivy, the Countess Mountbatten of Burma, Queen Sofía of Spain, King Constantine II and his wife Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, Princess Irene of Greece, and Prince Hassan bin Talal and his wife Princess Sarvath al-Hassan of Jordan.

The Knatchbulls are no stranger to royals however: along with the familial connection through the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip is one of Lord Bradborne’s godfathers, Lord Brabourne is himself the Duke of Cambridge’s godfather, Alexandra’s brother Nicholas went to Eton with William and Charles was Lord Brabourne’s best man at his wedding two months after the death of Lord Louis.

Alexandra has often been seen at Sandringham where her mother participates in carriage riding with the Duke of Edinburgh. In day to day life Alexandra is a forensic scientist in Washington DC where she is an assistant director. Her husband is a self titled entrepreneur.
