Prince Philip Tours Underground Railway Construction Site
The Duke of Edinburgh engaged one of his passions during a tour of the underground railway site being constructed underneath Farrington today.
Donning a fluro orange safety vest and a white hard hat, Prince Philip was shown the tunnels being waterproofed, walked the new platforms and spoke with the engineers and workers who are completing the Crossrail project.
The Duke has a long-standing interest in engineering, taking on the patronage of The Industrial Society in 1952 before initiating the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1976.
